Refresh Software Introduces the Newest Leading Component Content Management System (CMS) SR2 v7.0

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

New functionality including an entirely new Web 2.0 style task-driven user interface.

WALTHAM, MA (PRWEB) September 21, 2006 -- Refresh Software, a global provider of Component Content Management Software, today announces the October 1, 2006 release date for SR2™ v7.0. The single most important new functionality of SR2 is its entirely new Web 2.0 style task-driven user interface. This new UI signals the importance of Web 2.0 and drives an entirely new user paradigm through the use of the task oriented UI in conjunction with task oriented content project dashboards.

The new release of SR2 also has many new features and enhancements focused on usability and content manipulation as well as significant enhancements to our Web Services suite. This newest release of Refresh Software’s CMS, formerly known as SiteRefresh, includes several important new features inline with the founding tenets and our long-term vision of content management for the enterprise. Many large-scale Fortune 500 enterprise customers have turned to Refresh Software’s SR2 because the Component Content Management philosophy provides the ability to seamlessly drop into any complex information architecture without forcing large monolithic solutions that force a major redesign of the existing infrastructure. The new features of SR2 include:

A new user interface that includes a Web 2.0, task oriented look and feel, improved layout, and several advanced customization options which allow for quick adoption by content stake holders.

  • Enhanced and expanded content authoring Web Services which allow developers to:
  • Create custom web based and desktop based content mini-applications
  • Integrate content change management (content management) with existing applications, systems and infrastructure Embed content change management (content management) into package solutions
  • An out-of-the-box .NET Web Services client kit, with source, that can run as a lite content management application, but also as an example to rapidly build/extend custom content applications
  • Microsoft Word plug-in that brings object-oriented content creation to the worlds #1 used user interface. Content authors can create, update, check in and check out content right within Word.

Content project dashboard provides a quick view into all content related projects and tasks from a management and individual view point.

This major new release now called SR2 is the direct result of months of user testing as well as ongoing feedback from customers worldwide. This release continues on the promise of breaking down the barriers imposed by proprietary Content Management Systems. SR2 continues improving on an already impressive collection of sought-after features that provide unparalleled flexibility, customizability, and deploy-ability in a CMS. These features further reinforce the company philosophy of providing the user the ability to implement content management within their existing architecture, without having to reconfigure their applications to their best of breed specifications.

Many Content Management Systems rely on proprietary methods and languages to achieve an end-to-end application. SR2 Component Content Management frees the user from these constraints, leveraging the power of an open standards-based Content Repository, eliminating the need to adapt the corporate Information Architecture to gain content management functionality. The SR2 solution offers easy to use workflow and versioning capabilities, working in concert with decoupled content creation and content management to create a flexible and scalable CMS component that works efficiently in any environment. The separation of responsibilities and roles inherent in the Refresh component-based approach allows authors and editors to work independently from IT which results in maximizing the efficiency of both groups.

The enhancements of this latest version further SR2’s content manipulation capabilities. Still, as with previous versions, it remains the architecture of SR2 that sets it apart. Unlike the many end-to-end Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems that require business processes to conform to their proprietary storage and publishing systems, SR2 v7.0 is the only enterprise/mid-market solution that is truly decoupled to allow architects to construct the system to meet their evolving business needs.

SR2 uses a component-based architecture that focuses solely on content creation and management, with the data then stored in the existing enterprise database (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) SR2’s standards-based, open architecture is designed to seamlessly drop into complex environments without the significant overhead and infrastructure redesign typically associated with end-to-end systems.

If your challenge is creating a single website, supporting multiple websites or multiple regions, creating unified messaging across your global, multilingual enterprise with maximum content reuse and repurposing, or implementing a fully distributed enterprise where downloading CMS components along with your distributed infrastructure is a necessity, SR2 v7.0 meets the need simply and more quickly than other, fully-burdened, CMS systems.

All SR2 upgrades are free for existing customers with a paid support & maintenance agreement.
