Film Industry for Northern California Announces Its Upcoming Winter Gala and Awards Ceremony

Much in the vein of the Oscars, the Golden Fig awards are for those professionals who make a difference or impact on the northern California entertainment industry. A ceremony to honor those individuals and companies is set to take place on December 30, 2006, at the lavish Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys, California. From casting to production, directors, film commissioners, gaffers, hair and make-up, and every role in between, the Gala is always an event to remember. “We have taken our event to the people, giving our industry the reins on who receives each award,” founder Sara Cooper said. “In doing so, it really makes every award recipient mindful of their particular role in our industry and the impact they have according to their peers. It is a truly special honor.”

The event is preceded by a VIP reception for sponsors and celebrities followed by start of the Gala. The silent auction will be open and guests will have the opportunity to bid on some amazing items. The night will culminate with the highly anticipated award ceremony. The intimate affair will host 300 of the northern California’s elite industry and you must be a working film or entertainment media professional to attend.

Special to the 2006 Gala is the “Weekend Package” which gives guests the opportunity to attend many functions including the elegant New Years Eve event hosted by Ironstone Vineyard on December 31. As the Gala falls on a 3 day weekend, we hope that guests will make mini vacation out of the Gala, and really experience this jewel of California. There will be a casual meet and greet reception on Friday December 29th hosted by a superb local restaurant, and local wineries will be on hand to pour. The day of the Gala, Saturday December 30, we will have a tour to Mercer Caverns arranged (family friendly!) and wine tasting at the local vineyards.

Murphys, California was recently named one of the top small town destinations in America for it’s quaint and historic charm, and it is a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. It may not be Cannes, but it is a pristine countryside full of American gold rush history. Think Napa without the ego.

Organizers of the Gala have made special arrangements with local businesses and you can be sure, Murphy’s is ready to impress with arms wide open. Childcare will also be available on the night of the Gala, and by special arrangement on the 29th and 31st. Shuttles will be provided to and from local hotels on the night of the event.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with the industry and share something special with the whole family. Decadent food, fine drink and good friends will abound.
