McCabe Expands High Powered Configuration Management in Mainframe Arena

Citigroup request was driving force to full support for IBM PowerLinux on Z-Series.

Warwick, RI (PRWEB) September 26, 2006 -- McCabe Software Inc. announces the release of McCabe CM with full support for IBM PowerLinux on Z-Series mainframe.

“McCabe has many long-term customers in the banking and finance industry. Clients such as Citibank, JPMorgan Chase, MasterCard, and others have relied on McCabe technology for years. I am proud of the efforts put in by our team in expediting a solution for a valued client such as Citigroup,” said David Belhumeur, CEO, McCabe Software, Inc.

McCabe CM, well-known for its unique approach to parallel development, is now enabling the performance, scalability, and reliability of the mainframe to be applied to enterprise-wide configuration management. The change-based approach and selective migration capabilities, available only with McCabe CM, save development groups weeks with every release. With McCabe CM's cross-platform support, end-users can continue to work from existing clients distributed across the network. Critical servers can be consolidated and maintained in the security and reliability of the IBM PowerLinux environment, taking advantage of seamless disaster recovery, dedicated I/O processing, and integrity checking.

"Across the banking industry, data centers are under significant pressure to consolidate and better manage costs," says William Hymen, Sr. Configuration Analyst at Citigroup, a McCabe customer for 10 years. "A key technology supporting these cost savings is 'server virtualization' incorporating IBM's Mainframe zLinux, which runs on the IFL layer (Integrated Facility for Linux). This layer supports multiple instances of SuSe zLinux side-by-side. McCabe was instrumental in porting its software to IBM zLinux, thus adding another platform for us to choose from," says Hymen.

"Early this year, I worked closely with McCabe and evaluated the port of McCabe CM - TRUEchange 3.2 on their zLinux system. I was very pleased to see how seamlessly it worked with the other supported platforms," says Hymen.
