StreetDeck Demonstrated at Intel Developer Forum (IDF) Fall 2006

StreetDeck, the in-car computing expert, today announced that the StreetDeck in-car computing platform was demonstrated during a keynote address at Intel Corporation’s IDF Fall 2006. The StreetDeck demo was highlighted by CEO Paul Otellini as part of Intel’s Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) initiative and its standards collaboration with Volkswagen.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 26, 2006 -- StreetDeck, the in-car computing expert, today announced that the StreetDeck in-car computing platform was demonstrated during a keynote address at Intel Corporation’s IDF Fall 2006. The StreetDeck demo was highlighted by CEO Paul Otellini as part of Intel’s Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) initiative and its standards collaboration with Volkswagen. The StreetDeck in-car computing platform was used in a VW Passat with an integrated Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) platform showing Plug & Play compatibility for seamless media access and full-featured online experiences with music and location-based services.

As part of the IDF demo, new features of the StreetDeck in-car computing platform were shown including:

  • Automotive e-mail
  • iPod integration
  • Yahoo! Music
  • Location-based Internet search
  • Ultra Plug & Play support

StreetDeck CTO and new media convergence expert, Damien Stolarz, will participate on a panel titled, “Usage & Design Considerations: Ultra Mobile Devices for In-Car Applications,” at IDF on Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. PST, to discuss the evolving role the UMPC is playing in the future of car computing.
