The Scooter Store's Gift of Mobility program helps Paul Snow after lifetime of helping others.

Hallandale, FL (PRWeb) January 4, 2007 -- A local humanitarian, Paul Snow, was awarded a power scooter from The SCOOTER Store as part of the Texas company's Gift of Mobility program, which donates mobility equipment to people in need or those who have made outstanding contributions to our society.

Mr. Snow, 70, is best known for his work with the Hallandale Food Pantry. He joined back in 1992, and has served as its director for the last six years. The pantry helps more than 5,000 families a year with food provisions on a monthly basis. Mr. Snow works closely with area faith organizations to involve them in the pantry, and he recruits an all volunteer crew to assist in running the pantry. The SCOOTER Store worked with the National Chronic Pain Society to provide mobility assistance to Mr. Snow.

We are proud to make this award of a power scooter to Mr. Snow
Associates said Mr. Snow will use the power scooter to get from his home in a motor home park to the food pantry.

"We are proud to make this award of a power scooter to Mr. Snow," said Doug Harrison, The SCOOTER Store's CEO and Founder. "He has made outstanding contributions to communities stretching from Vermont to Florida. We are providing him a power wheelchair so he can continue his important humanitarian work in as much comfort as possible, and so he can continue to help others."

Mr. Snow is an amputee. In addition to numerous public and private sector positions in Florida and Vermont, Mr. Snow was appointed by former Florida Gov. Lawton Chiles to the Human Rights Advocacy Committee. Mr. Snow served two terms, the last two years of which he was Vice Chair and then Chairman. The Committee was responsible for overseeing the Department of Children and Families and their services to the elderly, foster care and juvenile problems for District 10.

The SCOOTER Store, the nation's leading provider of power wheelchairs and scooters, created its Gift of Mobility program in December, 2002. Since its inception, the outreach program has worked with organizations all over the world while donating more than $200,000 per year in power wheelchairs and scooters, and manual wheelchairs to community service organizations enabling them to provide freedom, independence and personal integrity to those with limited mobility.

"We created the Gift of Mobility program to give back to those who need help or have made outstanding contributions to their communities," said Mr. Harrison, who founded the company with his wife, Susanna Harrison, in 1991.

In addition to the National Chronic Pain Society, other charitable groups have participated in the Gift of Mobility program including the American Red Cross, Hospice, Volunteers of America and Dream Foundation, as well as a host of churches, museums and foundations.
