Chicago NBC TV Affiliate Airs Report on MIT Enterprise Forum of Chicago's Technology & Innovation Forecast: 2007-2011

WMAQ-TV5 Report Highlights New Technologies Presented to SRO Event

Chicago, IL (PRWeb) January 25, 2007 -- WMAQ-TV5, the Chicago NBC affiliate, aired highlights of the January 16th MIT Enterprise Forum of Chicago's Technology & Innovation Forecast: 2007-2011. The MITEF event drew a capacity crowd of over 140 to the conference center of Drinker Biddle Gardner Carton LLP, which according to Art Norman, host of WMAQ's Art Norman's Chicago, "...is where the best and brightest minds meet in Chicago."

Featured in the segment was event speaker Zach Kaplan, CEO of Inventables, who demonstrated a series of innovative products and materials. MITEF Chicago president Peter Balbus was also shown with a self-inflating flotation device that remains the size of a keychain fob until it comes into contact with water.

The segment aired during WMAQ-TV's 5 o'clock news broadcast on January 23rd and can be seen on WMAQ-TV's website at http://www.nbc5.com/video/10827596/index.html

The NBC film crew was attending the January 16th program of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Chicago, which featured four speakers, including Kaplan, presenting their perspectives on the future of technology and innovation. Other speakers included :

Geoff Kasselman, president of Op2mize, who presented his views on the future of smart buildings and the convergence of IT and real estate;

David Findling, director of technology architecture for Motorola, who presented his views on the future of wireless communications; and

Valerie Pajak, a management consultant with bioStrategies Group, who presented her views on the realities of biotech, biomedicine and the economics of disease prevention.

The moderator for the event was Dan Ratner, vice president of SitterCity.com and co-author of "Nanotechnology: A Gentle Introduction To The Next Big Idea" and "Nanotechnology And Homeland Security".
