H&W releases new version of SYSB-II software for keeping VSAM files open concurrently to batch and CICS. Data is updated all day, and CICS users have full read, write, and update access to CICS. New features include support for TCP/IP, support for record-level sharing (RLS), and support for CICS Language Level 3 translator.

Boise, ID (PRWEB) October 3, 2007 -- H&W Computer Systems, Inc. today announced the new 6.1 release of its leading SYSB-II® software, a system tool for IBM mainframe computers that allows CICS and batch to have concurrent access to VSAM files.

"We're pleased to release this version of the software because the new features make SYSB-II even more valuable to companies that need batch processing during the business day," said John Crossno, product manager for H&W. "Because batch jobs accessing VSAM can run anytime, users get current data on demand to make better and more timely business decisions, all while CICS applications remain fully available for read, write, and update."

Because batch jobs accessing VSAM can run anytime, users get current data on demand to make better and more timely business decisions, all while CICS applications remain fully available for read, write, and update.
The new features in the 6.1 release of SYSB-II include:

  • Support for TCP/IP to provide an additional communication protocol choice.
  • Improved support for record-level sharing (RLS) to configure SYSB-II for local CICS autodetection.
  • Simplified installation of the SYSB-II transparent file-sharing subsystem.
  • Support for CICS Language Level 3 translator in SYSB-II's application programming interface.
  • Ability to automatically rebuild control files across a sysplex.

These features serve to enhance SYSB-II and its solid record of performance. "Major corporations including financial institutions, insurance companies, and manufacturers, already trust SYSB-II to make VSAM batch part of their data-on-demand equation," said Crossno. "Any organization currently using VSAM or even considering moving to DB2 can't afford not to explore the benefits of SYSB-II. Most of the companies we work with can't believe the product functionality exceeds their expectations."

SYSB-II, a file-sharing tool, works with current processes to avoid lengthy installation time and testing, and it integrates easily with programmers' existing skill sets to minimize retraining. What this VSAM file tool doesn't require is application source-code changes, new hardware, data migration, or rearchitecting of existing IT infrastructure.
