With Military security a high priority among worldwide threats on US targets, Universal Safety Response Inc. (USR) engineers Joe Webster, Dan Bertell, and Rich Crim along with Account Manager Jim Pardue attended and completed training at the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) Protective Design Center. Each participant received a Certificate of Training. They also learned about the new standards for protecting U. S. Military installations, and received Professional Development Hours. VP of Sales, Wes Foss, attended the training in spring of 2007 and now requires certain members of the USR staff to attend this ACOE education. Foss says that, "Our systems are a perfect fit for achieving ACOE's goals and the training to USR is invaluable."

Franklin, Tennessee (PRWEB) October 27, 2007 -- With Military security a high priority among worldwide threats on US targets, Universal Safety Response Inc. Foss has worked with the ACOE to design USR's solutions GRAB-sp, (Ground Retractable Vehicle Barrier) ODDS, (Over-speed Directional Detection System) ACP booths, controls, fencing, IDS, and fixed barriers into their over all security plan. Foss says that, "Our systems are a perfect fit for achieving ACOE's goals and the training to USR is invaluable."

The Protective Design Center (PDC) is the Army's center of expertise for engineering services related to force protection and protective design. PDC provides engineering design and support services to the Army for both permanent and expedient applications, as well as to DOD and other U.S. Government agencies; thus protecting assets against criminal, terrorist, conventional, nuclear and special weapon threats. PDC constantly evaluates new technology in security and incorporates proven systems such as USR's GRAB-sp and ODDS.

I benefited greatly from learning the over all goal of the ACOE for Access Control and how it relates to USR's solutions.
USR Mechanical Engineer Rich Crim said, "The training was top notch. Everything from the accommodations to the presentation was great." Rich also added "I benefited greatly from learning the over all goal of the ACOE for Access Control and how it relates to USR's solutions." USR Field Engineer Manager, Joe Webster is one of the most experienced security technicians in the industry. Joe said "the training was essential for his group of field engineers and the certification of the USR systems."

The Access Control Point Standards Class is a complete look at all areas of the perimeter security and solutions that focus on the Access Control Point (ACP). Each Military facility employs thousands of solders and civilians. Military Bases house families of the enlisted soldiers and receives visitors daily. The safety and security of the lives on these bases are essential, and the Army Corps of Engineers consistently do their part by designing solutions that both protect our assets and allow for a daily flux of traffic in and out of these huge bases.

USR Account Manager Jim Pardue said, "It was amazing seeing all the facts and physics that go into the process of an Access Control Point." The vehicle barrier that best fits the Corps solution for security and safety is the GRAB-sp. The GRAB-sp vehicle barrier is the only barrier that has tested and passed both the Department of State K12 test for security and the FHWA Test for Safety. Senior Electrical Engineer, Dan Bertell, says he is excited to see that the ACOE has raised the bar for access control standards. He adds, "Some of the challenges to the ACOE's design standards are in perfect alignment to our solutions."

"We are rising to the challenge of global perimeter security as the world around us changes," says Foss. "Our innovative solutions are being adapted by the military as well as a safer solution for all of our commercial clients." USR President, Matt Gelfand added, "USR's focus is being the industry leader and creating a partnership with our clients. We make their goals, our goals."
