(PRWEB) November 1, 2007 -- Dr. Andy Mathis has 2 passions- Animals and Art. His November show in Athens at the Botanical Gardens of Georgia combines both of these passions.
"I began painting a few years after veterinary school as a hobby and creative outlet. Watercolor is my favorite medium as I love how the colors are luminous and bleed together", he says. "What is different about this show, is that majority of the paintings are painted on Yupo paper and varnished. They can then be framed similar to an oil or acrylic painting. No picture mat or glass is necessary. It is a very contemporary look for watercolor as the colors slide across the slick surface of the Yupo paper."
The subjects vary- florals, fruit, still lifes, and pet images.
Andy is a signature member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, having obtained signature status in 2001 after being juried into several Georgia Watercolor Society National and member shows. His artwork is also available for product licensing.
Sundown Surgery and Grace Funds are two funds that are set up at the University of Georgia Vet Med Teaching Hospital to assist owners, who show financial need, with their pets medical or surgical care. You can find more information about them by clicking here- http://www.vet.uga.edu/hospital/faq.php#sundown - or here- http://www.vet.uga.edu/hospital/faq.php#grace .
