(HRMarketer/PRWeb) November 3, 2007 -- The pace of merger and acquisition (M&A) activity continues to accelerate in today's global environment. Among the most common causes of failure cited by CEOs in a Conference Board study were poor or unclear leadership (49%), different cultures (49%), and a poor integration process (46%). If HR professionals are not involved in the overall merger and acquisition process from the beginning, these failures are sure to continue.

Mergers & Acquisitions: How-to Series for the HR Professional by Jerry Edge, CCP, is a publication from WorldatWork that explains the role of HR professionals during the M&A process. This book is a handy resource for practitioners navigating through the due diligence process, developing a compatible "blended" culture and restructuring complex benefits plans and reward schemes.

When involved in the process, HR, compensation and benefits professionals must be familiar with the entire HR function in order to succeed in a seamless transition for employees during a merger and acquisition. Knowledge of plan compliance, due diligence and esoteric issues associated with marrying disparate corporate cultures, will prove indispensable.
