Wakefield Development Company's Coastal Division recently hosted a successful weekend celebration event at its newest master-planned community, San Rio Ocean & River Club located in Shallotte, North Carolina. Featuring a unique Carolina Caribbean Low-country theme, San Rio will offer residents a resort-style amenity package unlike anything currently found along the North Carolina coast.

Shallotte, N.C. (PRWEB) November 8, 2007 -- Wakefield Development Company's Coastal Division recently hosted a successful weekend celebration event at its newest master-planned community, San Rio Ocean & River Club located in Shallotte, North Carolina. Featuring a unique Carolina Caribbean Low-country theme, San Rio will offer residents a resort-style amenity package unlike anything currently found along the North Carolina coast.

John Myers, president of Wakefield Development Company and Jim Wiseman, senior vice president of Wakefield Development Company's Coastal Division, welcomed guests to the weekend celebration, with a majority of them members of Wakefield Development Company's Friends and Family program, an exclusive organization of current or previous Wakefield Development Company homeowners. New property owners hailed from the Carolinas, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

"San Rio is a unique lifestyle unmatched by any other development," said Linda Cash, a member of Wakefield Development Company's Friends and Family program and a San Rio Ocean & River Club property owner. "Everything you want is here!"

The Caribbean-themed weekend celebration opened with a casually elegant welcome reception, entertainment and local cuisine. Festivities continued on Saturday, with additional gourmet fare and personal property tours by helicopter and boat. The weekend closed with an exciting live performance by Grammy award-winning artist, Travis Tritt.

"Since the grand opening of San Rio Ocean & River Club in April, we have been overwhelmed by the interest in the community and the unique lifestyle it offers homebuyers along the North Carolina coast," said Wiseman. "During this weekend's celebration, we were able to successfully showcase the community's Carolina Caribbean theme as well as the wonderful town of Shallotte."

San Rio will feature resort-style amenities inspired by the best of the Caribbean. The clubhouse is currently planned to include a world-class, resort-style pool with waterfall, private cabanas, a grotto area, tiki bar terrace, outdoor fireplace, kids' water world and splash zone and much, much more. Other proposed amenities include a themed indoor aquatic center, beach zone, tennis court, lazy river, nature trails and fitness center.

Wakefield Development Company entered the coastal market this past January with the launch of San Rio Ocean & River Club and Kingfish Bay, located along the Calabash River. Residences at Kingfish Bay will enjoy a nautical-inspired community that offers townhomes and villas with spectacular views of the Calabash River.
