Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 13, 2007 -- Houston-based mobility marketing firm qtags was named one of the "Top 10 Promising Start-ups" at the 5th annual Information Technology and Web 2.0 Venture Forum sponsored by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship.

The Rice Alliance event is one of the largest information technology venture forums in North America. More than 100 companies applied to take part, and 44 were selected to present in front of the audience of approximately 500 investors and venture capitalists, industry representatives and business leaders.

From this presenting group, 10 were selected most promising.

Founded in 2005, qtags provides mobile marketing programs that help clients:

  • Make advertisements easier to remember
  • Build targeted permission-based groups
  • Deliver rewards such as promotions and coupons
  • Allow consumers to order & view rich media content on the mobile phone & on digital displays
  • Connect to qtags-hosted dot-mobi sites
  • Create interactivity with audiences via voting, trivia and feedback text programs.

"We're honored to be selected by the Rice Alliance panel as a 'Top 10 Promising Start-Up' because there were a number of very strong companies involved in the forum," said Allison Gower, president of qtags.

"Our selection really reflects the commitment of our clients - the early adopters of mobile marketing who believe in the power of text messaging to build customer communities.

"Since our founding, we've expanded our offerings significantly to give clients a wide range of effective tools for communicating with today's on-the-go, technology-enabled consumer. We're thrilled that our efforts have been recognized by the Rice Alliance."

qtags - with an extensive technology and services platform and a client list that includes some of the world's best-known brands - is the market leader in the fast-growing mobility marketing industry. It's been a fast climb, Gower said, one centered on building awareness as much as building a company.

"When we started qtags, most people we talked to didn't even know what a text message was," Gower remembered. "Today, however, marketers understand that the cell phone is more than just a tool to many consumers. It's always there, always available, and it represents an important link to the people and communities that are meaningful. That has incredible power for marketers that are invited in via text messaging."
