Multimedia artist, Nathanael Chura, debuts his new performance installation of "George and Ira: The Official Cats of Brooklyn!", Saturday, November 17, 2007 in the group Children's Book Fair at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) November 15, 2007 -- Almost two months after Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz, proclaimed "George and Ira: The Official Cats of Brooklyn", artist and creator of the new Brooklyn based feline franchise, Nathanael Chura, will be on hand to meet, greet, and sign copies of the first edition flagship book, "George and Ira of Prospect Park West." The one day event will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2007, from 1-5 p.m. at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.

The book itself is an indie "sleeper," a black and white portrait of modern day Brooklyn: increasingly baby centric, haven for animal rights, with cleaning ladies and Veterinarians who drive up to your door in a giant RV pet hospital. It humorously tells the story of two Brooklyn cats living in brownstone Park Slope who suddenly become confronted with the inevitable changes that occur when a new sibling enters the picture.

George and Ira: The Official Cats of Brooklyn!
While the minimalist Hirschfield-style duo of fluffy maine coon and velvety soft daredevil unambiguously pay tribute to the immortal Gershwin brothers and Brooklyn's vast history as a whole, they also serve as reminders of the many struggling artists in New York today. Published in the true style of starving artist: print-on-demand/self-publishing, George and Ira emerge as accidental heroes.

George and Ira, along with The Official Cats Of Brooklyn proclamation and pictures of the author with Marty Markowtiz will appear at the signing.

Nathanael "Nate" Chura lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He is a produced playwright, composer, and lyricist. His plays include: Stars Over the East Village, The Rat Trap, Pipes, Colloquy Of The Malcontented. His musicals include: Routine Procedure, Lost And Found, and Abracadabra. Nate is also a two time composer/lyricist for the Atrainplays: A Devil Of A Time and Vampires Prefer Blondes. He is currently working in collaboration with Venezuelan artist, Javier Tellez, on an installation called, Cube.

In addition, Nate is a pianist, singer, and actor. He has appeared throughout New York in many shows, including an extended run of his one man show, Blame It On My Youth, at Danny's Skylight Room and, All The Standards, at Night and Day Skylight Room. His first professional appearance on stage was in the New York State Theatre Institute world premiere production of The Magna Carta. He last appeared on stage in a brief New York revival of Arthur Miller's, A View From The Bridge.

He is a graduate of Emerson College in Boston, MA. He is also a member of The Dramatists Guild, The Players, Actors Equity Association, ASCAP, and the U.S. Professional Tennis Association. He is a full-time staff tennis professional at the Prospect Park Tennis Center. Coincidentally, it is from out of his play, Colloquy Of The Malcontented, about two aging tennis pros, that he illustrated his first cartoon series, Rico and Bert.
