StepOK today announces the availability of Screen Anytime 1.0 beta, a new software tool for recording user sessions as video. (PRWEB) November 26, 2007 -- StepOK today announces the availability of Screen Anytime 1.0 beta, a new software tool for recording user sessions as video. Unlike text logs, a video of all activities gives more clarity on what actually happened on the workstation or server. The tool is ideal to monitor user behavior and catch unrepeatable system events.

Screen Anytime can record not only local user sessions but also those through remote desktop and terminal services, which is great for monitoring the server. The video records are grouped by users and sorted by the login time. A timeline interface helps to visualize the outline of user sessions clearly. Any special moment can be easily found by searching for the title tag from the titlebar of the window the user was operating in. For example, let's say you want to know all the websites someone visited, provided that his browser is Internet Explorer. Because the title should be - "Microsoft Internet Explorer," you can enter "internet explorer" as keywords to search for. Once the video is found, you can jump to the moment and replay it in a double click.

The program is different than typical screen recorders that use standard MPEG or LZW formats to save video. Screen Anytime uses a proprietary compression named SSCV2. The specialty of SSCV2 is the provision of the smallest possible file size. Let's say, for example, you need to record all the actions on the computer with these parameters: 1024x768 resolution, high color, 8 hours a day. This will only take you 100-300 Mb to record all the actions (that's 200-600K a minute). To back up the data recorded over a month, you'll need only 1-2 DVD disks! Unlike other compression methods, such as LZW or MPEG, SSCV2 delivers a balanced performance on photos, text and icons. So far there has been nothing close to SSCV2 in the world.

Suggested uses for Screen Anytime are employers that wish to monitor what their employees are doing on their computers. This will help to establish accountability among the admins and users, prevent data leaks, and improve the quality of service in customer care departments. Another domain of use for this product is marketing. It can be used to research user habits, preferences in browsing for making better marketing campaigns. As a tool for troubleshooting, Screen Anytime can video document every user session so that in case of a problem it'll be easier to find out what has caused an error and fix it quickly. In the classroom, the software can be used to record video tutorials, demonstrations for replaying the instructor's operations.

Screen Anytime 1.0 is available today.

Screen Anytime 1.0 is available as Server Edition and Workstation Edition. Server Edition runs on Windows 2000/2003 Server, while Workstation Edition runs on Windows 2000/XP/Vista.
