The Chefs Toolbox is in the business of building entrepreneurs. Established just three years ago, it has become one of Australia's emerging big brands in kitchenware, earning a place on BRW's list of fastest-growing start up companies.

Sydney, NSW (PRWEB) November 15, 2007 -- The Chefs Toolbox is in the business of building entrepreneurs. Established just three years ago, it has become one of Australia's emerging big brands in kitchenware, earning a place on BRW's list of fastest-growing start up companies. The key difference between The Chefs Toolbox and other kitchenware brands is its unique sales model and "try before you buy" approach.

The Chefs Toolbox is 100% Australian-owned. It is almost entirely vertically integrated, from product design and packaging through to sale to the final consumer. The entire range is designed in-house, with a heavy emphasis on quality materials, practicality and ergonomic design. "Because we design our own merchandise, we can tailor our products to suit our consumers' needs. We pay a lot of attention to the feedback we receive from our consultants and make changes accordingly," says David Mills, founder of The Chefs Toolbox.

The company sells its products through home cooking workshops, where consultants teach recipes and techniques that showcase the kitchenware range. The majority of its revenue comes from these cooking workshops, although Consultants' customers can also purchase through their online store. This method has proven to be a recipe for success, with the company experiencing more than 200% annual growth since 2003. The Chefs Toolbox now staffs 15 in-house employees, with a further 250 consultants in all States across Australia. The company currently turns over an annual income of $6 million, with a growth rate of 100% projected for 2007.

According to David, the secret to the success of The Chefs Toolbox lies with its consultants and affordable, high-quality products. "Most of our consultants are parents who want to earn an income without compromising their lifestyle. In most cases they start with little cooking or entrepreneurial experience, but they take to the business like dressing to a salad."

The average Chefs Toolbox consultant earns approximately $50 per hour, and the number of hours they work is entirely up to them. Consultants may work their way up to Manager level by building a team of other consultants, allowing them to earn additional bonuses. The Chefs Toolbox's highest earning Manager joined the company in 2005 and now has over 100 consultants in her team.

The Chefs Toolbox has low start-up costs and does not require consultants to pay for stock. The start-up kit, which includes $900 worth of kitchenware for demonstrations, costs only $349. Consultants also receive free training and support, with monthly cooking and business training sessions, access to a dedicated cooking guru and training videos, which are also available on YouTube.

"Our consultants are the life blood of our business so we make sure we take care of them. We put a lot of emphasis on the fun of cooking and keep them stimulated with a constant stock of new recipes. For many, The Chefs Toolbox is also a great excuse for a social occasion. Some great friendships have been made and our monthly training meetings are more like a day out with friends than work," says David.
