JumpBox Ships Four New Virtual Appliances, Sends Seven More to Beta-Testing

Proving Grounds community provides successful user-testing program.

Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) December 12, 2007 -- JumpBox, Inc. (www.jumpbox.com), an innovative provider of virtual appliances, today announced that they have extended their product line to include Jumpboxes for four additional Open Source applications: Alfresco, OTRS, Bugzilla and Mantis. The JumpBox production library currently contains virtual appliances for other popular Open Source applications, including: Drupal, Joomla!, MediaWiki, DokuWiki, PunBB, Wordpress, vTiger CRM, TWiki and Trac/Subversion. As with all Jumpboxes, deployment of these new applications is now faster than ever before, and requires minimal technical skill. Plus, automated backups and a consistent web based control panel simplify continued usage.

These four applications are the first graduates from the JumpBox Proving Grounds (http://www.jumpbox.net). This invite-only community provides its 470+ members with early access to beta JumpBoxes, special offers and news that otherwise is not available to the public. Recent additions to the Proving Grounds include: PmWiki, TikiWiki, Moin Moin, Redmine, Moodle, PhpBB and Cacti. These join Joomla! 1.5, Silverstripe, Project Pier and OpenLDAP.

"The Proving Grounds were developed to get rich user feedback on our products, which ultimately allows us to release better applications faster," said Sean Tierney, Co-founder and COO of JumpBox. "We are thrilled to be "graduating" our first four apps, and want to thank all the Proving Grounds members for their participation and feedback."

JumpBoxes bundle an entire application stack into a turn-key, pre-configured unit that runs on top of virtualization software such as VMWare, Xen, Parallels Virtual Iron, and Microsoft Virtualization. Typical deployment of these applications might take someone hours or days, but with a JumpBox it takes minutes - allowing people to focus on using software instead of getting it to work properly.

"JumpBoxes are an extremely efficient and effective way to evaluate and deploy software packages," noted Kimbro Staken, JumpBox Co-founder and CEO. "and with this inherent simplicity of JumpBox, we are bringing the power of open source software to a whole new audience."
