Event raises money for Toys-for-Tots and Alamance Adopt-a-Family.

(PRWEB) December 19, 2007 -- Mackintosh On The Lake, Wakefield Development Company's master-planned community in Burlington, North Carolina, celebrated its first-ever Holiday Open House charity event, Home for the Holidays, on Saturday, December 15.

Featured at the event were over 5,000 luminaries, 1,000 of which purchased by Mackintosh On The Lake homeowners. Proceeds from these luminaries were donated to Toys-for-Tots and the Alamance Adopt-a-Family organizations. All money collected from purchases at The Loch Ridge Manor Holiday Gift Shop was also donated to the two organizations.

"We are truly thankful for the amazing turnout we had at our Home for the Holidays Open House," said Christine Wilson, community sales manager. "With this event, we were able to capture the true meaning of the holiday season by benefiting our surrounding community through these wonderful charity organizations."

Guests had the opportunity to take old-fashioned horse and carriage rides throughout the community to see homes decorated for the season. At the residents clubhouse, Lock Ridge Manor, children and adults were treated to music sung by a local caroling quartet while making s'mores at the Firelight Overlook and enjoying holiday candy and festive drinks, including an exclusive blend of Starbucks® coffee dubbed "Mackintosh Blend." Children were treated to a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus. The Loch Ridge Manor Holiday Gift Shop was open for last minute gift ideas, including hand-made commemorative ornaments adorned with the Mackintosh shield, poinsettias and hand-made bows.
