Multi-Functional Concrete Table Transforms from Centerpiece to Cooler for Game Day

Pulling from qualities of two opposing personalities, the artists of this concrete table were able to create a unique piece that functions both as art, and entertainment.

Yucaipa, CA (PRWeb) February 2, 2007 -- Spring is near and it's time to gear up for a season of entertaining--outdoor bar-b-ques, sports games, etc. The Concrete Network, the most comprehensive resource on the web for decorative concrete information, features a truly unique piece of decorative concrete furniture showcasing the artistry evolving in the decorative concrete industry. The custom concrete table serves as a multi-purpose piece, perfect for interior or exterior living spaces.

The table, submitted by Shelley Chomistek of Rafter C Precast Concrete, is a charcoal colored solid concrete table top and legs, with a steel tray in the center, and an exposed aggregate polished concrete top with hand-seeded jade inserts. According to Chomistek, "We used jade inserts as jade is symbolic of love, inner peace, harmony and balance."
The table was created using integral charcoal colored concrete mix, using a hand-pressed method to give the marbled look to the legs, and different ratios of stains for the vein-look. The top is 2" thick, and the welded steel tray is 2 ½-inches deep. The top was sealed with sealer and wax.

We used jade inserts as jade is symbolic of love, inner peace, harmony and balance.
The clients for whom the table was created wanted a multi-functional yet artistic table that contained clean lines. The couple had very different personalities--the practical half wanted something functional, while the other half was interested in design and style. The resulting "Harmony Table," as it is now called, is a beautiful and functional piece capable of entertaining as a beverage cooler, or maintaining the harmony within the household.

Established in 1999, The Concrete Network's purpose is to educate consumers, builders, and contractors on popular decorative techniques and applications including stamped concrete, stained concrete floors, concrete countertops, polished concrete, and much more. Over 872,000 visitors researched The Concrete Network Web site in June, 2006.

The site excels at connecting buyers with local contractors in their area through its Find-A-Contractor service. The service provides visitors with a list of decorative concrete contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada, and is fully searchable by 22 types of decorative concrete work and 199 metropolitan areas throughout North America.
