Frou-frou, Forsaken: Mompreneur Designs Metalwork Jewelry to Fit Her Lifestyle

When Courtney Filer-Dougal, mother of two and owner of My Sunset Road, realized that she couldn't wear a single piece of the ornate jewelry she created for her online boutique, she packed away her beads and pulled out her torch. Four months later, she's debuting 'Everyday,' a modern line of minimalist metalwork rings, necklaces and earrings.

Somerville, MA (PRWeb) February 4, 2007 -- Some women have the luxury of shopping for jewelry based solely on their preferences, moms need to consider a whole lot more. Can it stand out on the playground, fit in at a PTA meeting and stun at a Jenny Lewis concert? These are the questions that made Courtney Filer-Dougal, mother of two and owner of online jewelry boutique, My Sunset Road, decide it was time to redesign her line to fit her lifestyle.

Leaving frou-frou behind, Filer-Dougal is debuting her new metalwork line of jewelry, 'Everyday,' this month. With nary a bead in site, the new line is feminine without being frilly, and includes rings, necklaces and earrings. All told, there are 26 pieces in the line, evoking a range of emotions -- from the solitary sophistication of space, to the strength of the medieval era, to the Zen-like fulfillment of order amidst chaos. Modern yet romantic, the 'Everyday' line transcends the notions of form and function as independent ideals when it comes to jewelry.

"I started making jewelry that I thought was ornate, beautiful and colorful and then I sort of sat back and realized that it just didn't go with my jeans/black t-shirt uniform." she jokes. "So I decided that I'd make pieces I could wear every day, and even on the ever elusive night-on-the-town."

From the sterling XO (hugs and kisses) stamped disc earrings, to the hand sawn sterling moon necklace -- complete with craters and 'orbiting' freshwater pearl -- to the delicate concave sterling disc necklaces and earrings, layered in graduating sizes (some topped off with a gem rondelle), all the designs in the 'Everyday' collection truly can be worn every day, and every night -- even and especially on the ones that are special.

My Sunset Road is an online jewelry boutique that sells one-of-a-kind and limited-edition jewelry made of vintage and new findings. Their newest metalwork line, 'Everyday,' features modern minimalist rings, earrings and necklaces. My Sunset Road also offers custom work, including full bridal party accessories and original paintings.
