Alternative to Wireless Networks Growing Trend for Hotels & Condos

Hotels and condos are turning to PLC Networks to eliminate network security and performance issues associated with wireless networks.

Tulsa, OK (PRWeb) February 6, 2007 -- As the demand for constant, anywhere access to the internet has increased, Hotels and Condos have struggled to maintain security and provide quality connections for their guests and residents. Many hotels and condos are turning to PLC Networks to eliminate network security and performance issues associated with wi-fi networks.

Wireless networks have received much attention from the hotel and condo industry but they have proved inadequate in many cases. Problems such as limited network security, inconsistent connections, and complicated installation and maintenance have many hotel and condo owners desperately seeking alternative network solutions.

Not to mention, it's the best price out there for high-speed internet access.
One promising answer is PLC networks. PLC networks convert a building's internal electrical wiring into a broadband networking platform. The technology is smart but not new. PLC Networks, such as Telkonet have been successfully installed for years by providers like Remote Watch of Oklahoma.

"Our products and services are purchased by corporations, utilities, and property management firms from around the world," said Mark Wakefield, Remote Watch president. "Over the years we have faithfully provided services for clients like Walmart, Choice Hotels, the Tulsa Housing Authority and many others."

The systems can be installed and upgraded from a building's electric room without disrupting normal business operations.
Other advantages include:

  • Can be accessed anywhere there is an electrical outlet
  • Free of the dead zones and signal interference that plague wi-fi networks.
  • Strong security encryption to protect users.
  • Unlike wi-fi networks, PLC networks prevent bandwidth theft by unauthorized users.

These advantages combined with cost-effectiveness make PLC networks very attractive to property and hotel managers like Walter Conner of Holiday Inn Select.

"Telkonet's product is very user-friendly and extremely fast," said Conner. "Not to mention, it's the best price out there for high-speed internet access."
