New Vitamin and Mineral Formula Sets Standard in Antacid and Heartburn Treatment

NutraMD raises the industry standard with vitamin and mineral supplements designed to restore nutrients depleted by prescription medication.

Houston, TX (PRWeb) February 7, 2007 -- It's a revolutionary idea - creating a vitamin and mineral supplement that restores essential nutrients depleted by prescription medications. The need for this unique idea is supported by a recent medical study showing prolonged use of prescription heartburn medications caused more hip fractures in people over the age of 50.

We developed this Antacid product based on specific nutritional deficiencies that occur with medications for heartburn, gastritis, and GERD. We also have other vitamin and mineral supplements designed to work with medications for heart disease risk factors (hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes), as well as menopause, contraception, and arthritis.
"Physicians and patients alike have commented on this breakthrough study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association last December," says Dr. Don Ford, who has collaborated with Dr. Peter Osborne to develop a line of vitamin and mineral supplements designed to work with specific prescription drugs. NutraMD is the first company of its kind to focus on creating a vitamin and supplement line that restores what prescription medication depletes.

"Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can create adverse affects which mimic other diseases," according to Dr. Osborne, who has a doctorate in nutrition and teaches nursing students about drug induced nutrient deficiencies. "Just look at this recent medical study. Many physicians would have attributed the osteoporosis solely to a postmenopausal state or normal aging, when the reality is that the problem could have been reduced or prevented by taking a vitamin and mineral supplement designed to work with heartburn medications."

While many people still think that taking a daily multi-vitamin can keep their health in balance, both Dr. Ford and Dr. Osborne believe otherwise. "We developed this Antacid product based on specific nutritional deficiencies that occur with medications for heartburn, gastritis, and GERD. We also have other vitamin and mineral supplements designed to work with medications for heart disease risk factors (hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes), as well as menopause, contraception, and arthritis."

Within the past two years, NutraMD has researched and developed vitamin and mineral supplements which work along with specific prescription medications to restore nutrients which are depleted. A specific formula, NutraMD Antacid EN, would be effective for anyone taking heartburn or any acid reducing medications. Other vitamin and mineral supplements manufactured by NutraMD include High Blood Pressure EN, High Cholesterol EN, Diabetes, EN, Arthritis EN, Menopause EN, and Contraceptive Hormone EN.

"We help patients keep their health in balance by developing vitamin and mineral supplements that restore what prescription medications take away," according to Dr. Ford, an internal medicine physician who has offered NutraMD products to his patients for more than a year. "I see many patients with heartburn, GERD, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, and menopause in my internal medicine practice, and the NutraMD vitamin and mineral supplements have helped patients to improve their overall cholesterol treatment by enhancing compliance, reducing side effects, meeting their daily nutritional needs, and maintaining a healthier state while taking prescription medications."

Dr. Osborne is dedicated to creating a healthier patient who sees the benefits of medical care along with supplements that support their health and healing. "There are some common vitamin and mineral deficiencies that go along with taking prescription drugs, including Coenzyme Q10, Vitamin C, Calcium, Folic Acid, Zinc, Potassium and all of the B Vitamins," according to Dr. Osborne. "But taking a daily multi-vitamin does not address the imbalances caused by prescription medications."

NutraMD hopes to expand its vitamin and mineral supplement line in the future as consumers become more educated about the nutrient depletions that occur from taking prescription medications. "As a practicing physician, I can tell you that many physicians know this information, but they aren't aware of these specific remedies which restore vitamins and minerals depleted by specific prescription medications" says Dr. Ford. "Even today, physicians are not given adequate nutritional education in medical school. At NutraMD, our goal is to raise awareness among doctors and their patients that there is a vitamin and mineral solution which maximizes the benefits, while reducing the risks of prescription medications."

The NutraMD vitamin and mineral supplements maintain quality standards and are manufactured from proprietary blends at a GMP certified lab. Products are tested individually for purity by both independent laboratories as well as an in-house HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography) process.
