Chantilly, VA (PRWeb) February 6, 2007 -- Blue Ridge Networks, a provider of unparalleled security solutions to business and government, today announced the success of its high-assurance devices in building strong authentication and encryption into the world's largest secure VoIP network -- the satellite-based Iraq Command and Control Network (IC2N).
A ceremony was recently held in Iraq to transfer authority over the IC2N from its US-based developers to the Iraq Ministry of the Interior (MOI), as announced by The Civilian Police Assistance Training Team (CPATT).
Blue Ridge Networks CEO Mike Fumai commented that "Being able to claim that we secure the world's largest secure VoIP over satellite network is rewarding, but what I take pride in is the concerted team effort that created a solution so valuable to Iraq secure voice and data communications."
As the world's largest fully meshed secure VoIP network, the IC2N has provided secure and non-secure voice and data services to the Iraqi MOI for more than two years. The project first started in November 2004 with the objective of connecting the major cities of Iraq with a private communications system to support the Interim Iraqi Elections in January 2005.
Since then, the network has grown in its scope, by linking various MOI sections, and allowing trusted and assured telephone conversations and individual access to the internet. Blue Ridge state-of-the-art encryption devices support secure phone and email. The fully meshed secure VoIP capability allows each site to talk via a secure telephone to any other site, not just to its headquarters.
This is the first large-scale network to be transferred to MOI control, and provides another success story in the ongoing process of nation building. The network has proven to be so valuable that the MOI decided to keep it relatively unchanged.
Systems integrator Proactive Communications, Inc. of Killeen TX, (http://www.proactivecommo.com) will continue to lead the US-based team that includes Blue Ridge Networks; Loral Skynet; PingTone Communications; and iDirect. Each team member overcame numerous technical and logistical challenges of operating over extended distances and satellite links.
Blue Ridge Networks provided timely engineering support when called upon to enhance and extend the capabilities for the 100 sites that Proactive Communications had already deployed.
The Blue Ridge Networks BorderGuard is known for strong authentication and encryption and has an unparalleled 12-year record of no reported vulnerabilities. BorderGuard product.
