(PRWeb) February 8, 2007 -- With weather conditions set to become frosty this week, travelling to the airport can mean travel misery and the holiday coming to an early end. Airport Parking and Hotels (APH) has created a safer driving section on www.aph.com offering advice to holiday makers on how to ensure a safe and quick journey to and from the airport.

Tips for safer winter driving include:
- When starting up your car, ensure unnecessary electrics are switched off such as radios, heaters and lights.
- If the engine does not start quickly then leave 30 seconds between attempts to allow the battery to recover.
- Ensure you use anti-freeze during periods of cold weather. If the radiator freezes the car will overheat. Stop the car immediately and allow the radiator to defrost.
- Through the winter months dazzle from the low sun can be a problem so ensure windscreens are free from smears, scratches and dirt which can obscure vision.
- Don't breathe on a frozen lock as it will freeze, instead use a lighter to warm a key.
- Allow extra time in winter for your journey - it is better to be late and safe.

Nick Caunter, Managing Director, APH said: "Many flights are early in the morning which often means scraping ice off windscreens before it has the chance to thaw and risking frozen engines. We have added these top tips to the website to give customers as much information as possible. Parking a car at an APH car park not only saves you money but also gives you peace of mind when travelling in winter. Before holidaymakers return to their cars, a member of APH staff checks the cars for flat batteries and deflated tyres meaning drivers can get in their car and drive home safely."

One week's parking at APH Gatwick costs £43.68 and a double room at Swallow Bower Hotel and one week's parking at Manchester costs £51.75.
