Oceana - an ocean conservation group - is offering free e-cards on its website as a "thank you" for its supporters' efforts. The dolphin, polar bear, tropical fish and penguin e-cards are designed with a Valentine's Day theme.

Washington, DC (PRWeb) February 14, 2007 -- In honor of Valentine's Day, Oceana - an ocean conservation group - is offering free e-cards on its website, www.oceana.org.

E-cards are a booming business. According to American Greetings, more people send e-cards on Valentine's Day than any other holiday all year, and an estimated 10 million e-valentines will be sent this year. While sites that specialize in e-cards offer enormous variety, less and less of them are offering their e-cards for free, prompting many to send their e-cards through non-traditional sources.

Protecting the World's Oceans
"We consider our free e-cards to be a thank you to our supporters," said Maureen Bonner, E-activism Manager at Oceana. "Our activists give us their time, energy and even financial contributions all year. It's nice to have a chance to give something back and return the favor."

Oceana is offering four e-cards designed especially for Valentine's Day. Each one features a different ocean creature: dolphins, polar bears, penguins or tropical fish. In place of the organization's slogan of "Protecting the World's Oceans," the e-cards read "Loving the World's Oceans."

In addition to its free e-cards, Oceana has partnered with Organic Bouquet for a special Valentine's Day promotion. Oceana supporters that send one dozen sustainably-grown roses to their Valentine will receive a free vase, and 10 percent of the purchase price will benefit Oceana. To take advantage of the promotion, visit http://www.organicbouquet.com/wavemakerfreevase

Christina Aguilera recently gave Ellen DeGeneres one dozen of the "world's tallest roses" on her talk show. The six feet tall roses are shipped from Ecuador and are sold exclusively through Organic Bouquet.

Valentine's Day is on Wednesday, February 14.

Oceana campaigns to protect and restore the world's oceans. Our teams of marine scientists, economists, lawyers and advocates win specific and concrete policy changes to reduce pollution and to prevent the irreversible collapse of fish populations, marine mammals and other sea life. Global in scope, Oceana has campaigners based in North America (Washington, DC; Juneau, AK; Los Angeles, CA), Europe (Madrid, Spain; Brussels, Belgium) and South America (Santiago, Chile). More than 300,000 members and e-activists in over 150 countries have already joined Oceana.
