Get Married to Debut on WE TV in April; New Magazine Show is All About Weddings

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

Every year in the U.S. 460,000 people get engaged on Valentine’s Day (Source: Diamond Information Center on behalf of the Diamond Trading Company). With an entire day devoted to and celebrated with romance-filled sentiments, hearts, candies, chocolate, and of course – cherubs, it’s no wonder so many couples get swept up in it all. With the magic of St. Valentine upon us, and love and romance in the air, more and more couples will be heading down the aisle and tying the knot. How romantic, how wonderful, how incredibly….overwhelming! As beautiful an occasion as getting married can be, the actual planning of a wedding and all that it entails can be quite a daunting task. Couples find themselves catapulted from familiar territory to un-chartered waters in record time. Congratulations! You’re engaged – now what? Introducing Get Married – a new magazine-style tv show that offers practical guidance, information, and entertainment for the Bride-to-Be and her entire wedding-planning circle through each of the planning stages and beyond. Say goodbye to Bride-zilla and hello to your new best friend – an engaging “news-you-can-use” visual companion guide that stands dramatically apart from the wedding-focused “reality” shows that have emerged in recent years. Get Married comes to national television Sunday mornings beginning April 1st on WE tv accompanied online by www.getmarried.com.

New York, NY (PRWeb) February 13, 2007 -- A new-concept television show about everything to do with marriage and weddings hits WE tv this spring with the debut of a weekly series, Get Married.

Weddings are the ultimate emotional experience and they touch everyone
A half-hour, news-you-can-use magazine show, Get Married will be hosted by Atlanta TV and radio personality Jenn Hobby with reports by noted wedding expert Crys Stewart and correspondent Jessica Campbell. It will cover everything about weddings, providing news, trend stories, celebrity interviews, expert tips and ideas, surveys, destination weddings, honeymoons and viewer feedback as the only show of its kind on the television landscape.

Get Married will air Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. ET (8:30 a.m. CT, 9:30 a.m. PT, 10:30 a.m. MT, check local listings).

“There are a host of reality shows out there that use marriage as a source of conflict to grab viewers and those will come and go,” said Stewart, the Editorial Director of Get Married and former editor-in-chief of WeddingChannel magazine. “Get Married will attract an audience by exploring the subject with an in-depth look at all aspects of what is really one of the most important life events that a person can experience.”

The TV show will be complemented by a website – brides, bridesmaids, planners, parents and others seeking to maximize their once-in-a-lifetime experience. The website will go live in mid-March.

“Weddings are the ultimate emotional experience and they touch everyone,” offered Stacie Francombe, the show’s creator and president of Atlanta-based production company Reel Creative. “We hope to serve that interest with a new approach and in this age of interactivity, we expect people to chime in with their thoughts.”

Among the Get Married feature segments will be Ask The Expert, which will show brides-to-be everything from choosing a photographer to selecting the right band or DJ to innovative floral creations. Experts will come from all aspects of planning a wedding – including Colin Cowie, world renowned as an arbiter of style and the author of five books on style and entertaining; Mark Badgley and James Mischka, designers who are known for their elegant take on glamour; Preston Bailey, who will focus on his lavish décor designs; and event planner David Tutera, who is known for the personal style and elegance that he brings to his clientele. A Look and Book segment will feature different honeymoon and destination wedding resorts with interested couples able to book the ceremony or vacation of their dreams at special rates, on the spot, using an 800#.

The Celebrity Wedding segment will highlight stars on camera talking about their own weddings. They will share all the details of their wedding experiences, inspiring brides-to-be to formulate creative ideas of their own. NASCAR champion and Nextel Cup winner Kurt Busch, married in 2006, and John O’Hurley, Seinfeld comedic actor (J. Peterman) and the inaugural Dancing with the Stars ultimate champion, are among the interviewees. Also featured will be Ryan Newell, lead guitarist for band Sister Hazel, who is wedded to Get Married host Jenn Hobby.

The expert behind Get Married is Stewart, an author, producer and publisher who gained fame as one of the premier wedding magazine editors for over two decades. She will serve the dual role of Editorial Director and On-Air Contributor for Get Married, providing her signature approach to wedding style with a personal touch. She is a sought-after authority who has appeared on The View and Good Morning America to share her expertise on related subjects.
