The Paul Green "School of Rock" Comes to the West Coast: Santa Monica Branch Ready to Rock, Turns Kids into Rock Stars

Which kid growing up in America doesn't dream of becoming a rock star? For Santa Monica's youths between the age of 7 and 18, that dream now has a name. It's called the PGSORM Santa Monica and it has arrived in town. Just like in the movie "The School of Rock", which was apparently inspired by the school and starred Jack Black, the Santa Monica branch headed by rock musician John Rusco, is promising to turn any interested kid into a performing rock musician. With its private lessons and ensemble rehearsals, Rusco believes, "that every kid is a star yearning to rock, and with our classes that culminate with a live performance in front of an audience, the wait is over."

Santa Monica, CA (PRWEB) February 14, 2007 -- The Paul Green School of Rock has 30 locations nationwide and its students have performed over 350 concerts in front of 100,000 venues ranging from clubs to music festivals across the country such as Lalapalooza . "As a rock musician myself, I want the kids to have fun with the process," said Rusco, who is the leader of acclaimed rock band Static Man.

The Santa Monica location is a long awaited addition to the music school which was first established in Philadelphia in 1998 by rock lover Paul Green. "We want the kids to learn how to play an instrument and perform but more importantly, we strive to give them self-confidence," he said. Classes are taught by accomplished musicians with touring experience. Joe DeSa, the Executive Music Director toured extensively opening for renowned bands YES and others in his native Brazil. He brings aboard, "a contagious youthful exuberance to teaching and performing," adds Rusco.

learn anything is by doing it
Rusco plans to bring the same rocking experience to Santa Monica's kids and strongly believes that the best way to "learn anything is by doing it". In keeping with the school philosophy, from the very first class students are playing an instrument the only way it should be played LOUD. And shortly after are performing in front of an audience. "With our music programs, kids learn to fully express themselves as a member of a group and a true individual, and yes, as a real rocker," he said.

School of Rock is now accepting new students for its winter, spring and summer sessions.
