New features include significant expansions of product libraries, an upgraded GIS Map module and enhancements to ETAP Short-Circuit and other modules.

(PRWeb) February 19, 2007 -- Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI) has announced the availability of ETAP 5.5.5, the most comprehensive analysis platform for the design, simulation and operation of power systems. This new version expands upon the many enhancements added to the earlier ETAP 5.5 release, including new capabilities of the Short-Circuit module, additional editors, and an expanded product library.

In addition to the core ETAP power analysis and simulation capabilities OTI customers are using today, key elements of the new release include:

- A significant expansion to the product libraries, including new types of cables. Additionally, many new models of protective devices were added to the Fuse, Low Voltage Circuit-Breaker, Low Voltage Solid State Trip, Thermal Magnetic Circuit-Breaker, and Relay libraries.

- Enhanced localization via the ability to handle period (.) or comma (,) decimal separators for float numbers.

- An upgraded ETAP GIS Map to interface with ArcGIS Versions 9.1 & 9.2, as well as an enhanced ETAP GIS interface to work with ArcGIS run-time engine.

- Upgrades to the Short-Circuit module, providing users with new abilities to determine a single path between a generator and the generator circuit-breaker. Several other enhancements to Short-Circuit have also been added.

- New options were added to the Duty cycle page for DC motor, DC static load, UPS and inverter, including the ability to be based on Amp or Percentage Loading.

- Updates to the ETAP License Manager (LM), including the compatibility with virtual machine software.

"The new capabilities of ETAP 5.5.5 are a continuation of our company's efforts to provide our customers with the most comprehensive power system analysis solutions available," says Farrokh Shokooh, President and CEO of OTI. "By giving our customers these advanced capabilities, we can help ensure that our customers will continue to get the highest return on investment when it comes to solutions for the design, simulation, and operation of power systems."

ETAP customers with active maintenance coverage will receive the new release free of charge. Non-customers may request a free Demo version of ETAP 5.5.5 by visiting http://www.etap.com/demo.htm.
