The second phase of $13 million in renovations to the meeting and event space at the Boston Marriott Copley Place hotel has been completed. The investment in the meeting and event facility upgrades was made by Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc., the owner of this hub hotel located in the historic Back Bay of Boston.
BOSTON, MA (PRWeb) February 17, 2007 -- The Boston Marriott Copley Place has completed the second phase of a major renovation to its meeting, conference and event facilities. The hotel owner, Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. has invested $13 million in these extensive meeting and event facility upgrades that include enhancements to 24 meeting rooms, the Grand Ballroom, and the Back Bay Conference and Exhibit Hall.
The latest renovations at this Boston hotel are of 17 small and mid-size meeting rooms, which total over 13,000 square feet of flexible meeting space on the hotel's third and fourth floors. These meeting rooms feature a warm and inviting color palette, with new carpet, wall coverings, window treatments, and light fixtures. State-of-the-art sound systems, as well as wired and wireless Internet access, provide superior audio visual results. The hotel's Grand Ballroom, as well as the Back Bay Conference and Exhibit Hall (including seven mid-size meeting rooms), were renovated this spring.
The hotel's 23,431-square-foot Grand Ballroom boasts $1 million in technical improvements, including new digital lighting systems, sound systems, superior wireless and wired capabilities, and fiber optic cabling. Event and meeting planners can enjoy: outstanding theater-style and décor lighting capabilities, thanks to an easily accessible grid of lighting bars and track lighting; improved acoustics; and independently operable interior walls.
Atlanta-based architects TVS and TVS Interiors drew inspiration for the Grand Ballroom's design from the shapes and textures of gardens within Boston's Emerald Necklace. The jewel-toned carpet, Kaya Mahogany millwork, tone-on-tone wall coverings, and bronze light fixtures lend warmth and openness. Hanging 20-feet overhead, 29,000 clear and amber crystals adorn three stunning, custom-designed chandeliers.
While the hotel's renovated, 22,500-square-foot Back Bay Conference and Exhibit Hall is available in its entirety for trade shows, it now also offers meeting planners the flexibility of sub-division into seven mid-sized meeting rooms. The new meeting rooms, which measure from 900 to 2,000 square feet, are named after Boston Back Bay streets: Arlington, Berkeley, Clarendon, Dartmouth, Exeter, Fairfield, and Gloucester.
In 2006, the Boston Marriott Copley Place was the only Boston hotel granted the Meetings and Conventions' "Gold Key Award." Meeting attendees enjoy over 65,000 square-feet of flexible, high-speed Internet-ready meeting and exhibit space. Wireless Internet access is available in all meeting rooms, restaurants and lobby areas.
