Bibhu Mohapatra Heads to India for Research and Inspiration for the next Collection

Bibhu Mohapatra is taking a long over due holiday in India where he will do extensive research for the next collection.

(PRWeb) February 20, 2007 -- Bibhu Mohapatra has been working as designer in New York for over 7 years.

Mohapatra will be traveling in India for about a month beginning February 23rd in Delhi. He will then travel to his home state of Orissa, then to Calcutta and finally to Mumbai before returning to Paris and then to Tampa, Florida for the wedding of a valued private client.

The client, Allison Beard, is an Equestrian star from Tampa and New York. The wedding gown was made by Mohapatra under the label, "Bibhu", created over the last year.

The dress is made from 10 yards of hand loomed Japanese silk in powdered ivory, 40 yards of hand dyed silk tulle and hand pleated silk mousseline. The under layers of the gown trimmed with encrusted caviar beading of smoked quartz and semi precious stones and rafia in an ancient Indian Zardosi technique, peaking through the arched hemline of the dress which rests on a structured underskirt made with hand pleated silk tulle and tea stained silk mousseline. All done by artisans of three different beading salons in India and Lasage of Paris. The final creation put together in New York.

Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Julian Moore, Eve, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Salma Hayak, Mandy Moore, Gwen Stefani and Angelina Jolie, Kate Hudson, Britney Spears, Jessica Lange, Melania Trump, Halle Berry, Julian Moore, Kate Blanchett, Terry Hatcher, Celine Dion, Laura Linney are the few people that adore J. Mendel clothes. These clothes are found, very deservingly, on the editorial pages in every major fashion magazine, Vogue, Harpers, Elle, In style, Nirali Magazine, WWD, the Times of India, India Times, Town & Country.

Mohapatra has little down time, but when he has a bit of time he likes to draw his inspiration from his travels to new and exotic lands for his own special collections. He has recently been to Turkey, South Africa, France, Morocco, and Ireland. As a native, his greatest inspiration always comes from his trips to India. He finds patterns, fabrics and colors one simply does not find any where, much less in New York.
