Pat Lakey - A Real Voice

Pat Lakey officially declared his candidacy for San Francisco District 7 Supervisor today.

(PRWEB) March 31,2 004 -- Pat Lakey, a longtime Inner Sunset resident, businessman, labor leader and community activist, officially declared his candidacy for District 7 Supervisor today. Pledging to offer voters a real choice, Lakey said he looked forward to an aggressive, informative campaign to give this often overlooked part of San Francisco a real voice in City Hall.

With pride, commitment and humility, Im announcing today my candidacy for the Board of Supervisors. While sadly it is nothing new, I am dismayed at the lack of attention to our needs," Lakey said. District elections were re-instituted because voters wanted to have their own neighborhood advocate. The incumbent has forgotten his roots, a fact that will become crystal clear in the course of the campaign."

Lakey has lived in San Francisco for more than 30 years, all of that in District 7. Voters of a certain age or older will remember young Pat, sitting on his fathers knee in TV broadcasts, recounting his adventure of the day. A home owner and self-employed contractor and carpenter, he understands what it means to be responsible to people counting on you. His leadership abilities have been recognized by his peers in organized labor, and the Chamber of Commerce.

District 7 includes the neighborhoods of West Portal, St. Francis Woods, West of Twin Peaks, Inner Sunset (east of 19th Avenue) and Lake Merced. This falls elections will be the first to be conducted under Instant Runoff Voting (IRV), with voters able to cast three votes for first, second and third choices. I will offer specific plans and programs to improve the quality of life in District 7. At the same time I will also look closely at the voting record of all the incumbents to see how their priorities match up with District 7 needs," added Pat Lakey.
