Ctek, Inc. today announced another first in the advancement of secure broadband communications over CDMA wireless networks. Ctek's 4310 SkyRouter combines EV-DO Rev A broadband performance with IPSec and Layer 2 tunneling to create a CDMA routing device that can securely communicate with business systems at broadband speeds.

Orlando, FL; Las Vegas, NV and San Pedro, CA (PRWeb) March 29, 2007 -- Ctek, Inc. today announced another first in the advancement of secure broadband communications over CDMA wireless networks. Ctek's 4310 SkyRouter combines EV-DO Rev A broadband performance with IPSec and Layer 2 tunneling to create a CDMA routing device that can securely communicate with business systems at broadband speeds.

A self-contained, industrial-strength router, the 4310 SkyRouter provides secure IP network connectivity in applications where the combination of broadband performance and rock-solid security is an absolute requirement. "Wireless data communications have competed very favorably with wire line solutions on cost," says Ctek President William Buchan. "The enhanced speed of EV-DO, now also makes throughput comparable. However, securing the wireless connection has until now held back the acceptance of wireless technology as a wire line replacement. Incorporating IPSec and Layer 2 tunneling provides the security required for sensitive applications," added Buchan. The 4310 provides high throughput and high security at a cost effective price. In addition, wireless technology adds a level of mobility and flexibility unattainable by wire line connections.

Public safety applications such as mobile command posts and disaster recovery facilities will be among the first to benefit from the combination of these proven technologies. Secure wireless connectivity is also a significant factor in many existing and emerging commercial applications. For example, satellite retail operations, convenience stores, and branch office facilities share a common requirement for secure high-speed communications.

In addition to broadband performance, the 4310 SkyRouter also supports Assisted Global Positioning (A-GPS), a network positioning technology widely deployed for wireless E9-1-1. A-GPS employs the power of the wireless network to provide precise positioning even in environments such as urban canyons and parking garages where conventional GPS would be unreliable. The integration of A-GPS and secure broadband wireless data makes this SkyRouter the ideal platform to address applications such as mobile service trucks, emergency vehicles, and fleet management.

A key component of the SkyRouter value proposition is Ctek's unique TCO Plus, developed to reduce on-going operational costs associated with industrial IP networks. According to Buchan, "The true cost of deploying a wireless IP network is not in the initial capital product investment, but in the on-going operational costs." Ctek has incorporated an array of remote over-the-air (OTA) management tools including web-based administration, firmware updating, network logging, and network monitoring to control and query wireless endpoints. "Wireless networks are maturing and the management capabilities have been playing catch up. Sending technicians to update and troubleshoot the remote wireless endpoints is no longer economical. TCO Plus brings network management to a new level." says Buchan.

The 4310 brings secure broadband performance to the popular SkyRouter family of industrial CDMA routers that share a common platform and have been successfully deployed since 2004 in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand, among other countries. SkyRouter applications now include remote instrumentation, RTU/PLC connections, industrial control, security and surveillance, financial terminals, point-of-sale, lottery, ATM, as well as public safety and remote workforce.
