Bigfoot Networks published a white paper about Microsoft® Windows® Vista operating system's performance during online game play. After extensive testing on both Windows XP and Windows Vista using such games as Battlefield 2, F.E.A.R. and World of Warcraft, the results showed that Vista's networking stack not only didn't improve online game play -- it often introduced more Lag than its predecessor, Windows® XP. Additional test runs using the Killer NIC on identical systems demonstrated the Killer provided greater benefits on systems running Vista than XP.

Austin, Texas (PRWeb) April 4, 2007 -- Windows Vista's Focus on Throughput not Ideal for Gaming.

Bigfoot Networks, makers of the Killer NIC, today published a white paper about Microsoft® Windows® Vista operating system's performance during online game play.

"Vista does offer many new networking features, but they are mostly focused on throughput performance," said Harlan Beverly, co-founder and CEO of Bigfoot Networks. "Games rely on low latency as opposed to throughput, and Vista sacrifices precious latency in favor of added throughput and security. Fortunately when you add the Killer NIC to the equation you can significantly increase latency performance by bypassing the Vista networking stack."

Vista does offer many new networking features, but they are mostly focused on throughput performance
According to the white paper authored by Harlan 'Tytus' Beverly, CEO of Bigfoot Networks and the inventor of the Killer NIC, the benefits of Killer were generally higher on Vista than on an identical system running XP. On Vista, Killer reduced Ping anywhere from 7% to 41% and improved Frames-Per-Second anywhere from 5% to 40% depending on the game being played.
