Harvard University -- On April 14, 2007 Harvard University will present Glenn Toby with the Outstanding Man Of The Year award. The Tribute to Black Men, an annual event sponsored by the Association of Black Harvard Women, has chosen to honor Glenn Toby with the event's annual Vanguard award as Outstanding Man of the Year.
Cambridge, MA (PRWeb) April 9, 2007 -- Harvard University -- On April 14, 2007 Harvard University will present Glenn Toby with the Outstanding Man Of The Year award. The Tribute to Black Men, an annual event sponsored by the Association of Black Harvard Women, has chosen to honor Glenn Toby with the event's annual Vanguard award as Outstanding Man of the Year.
The Vanguard award is annually given to the African American male who best exemplifies the values of leadership, activism, integrity and commitment to the African-American community. The overseers of the event feel that Mr. Toby embodies these qualities given his versatile roles as a musician, entrepreneur, philanthropist and champion of our society's most underprivileged individuals.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Toby became a 1980s music phenomenon
as successful rapper and established his own production company. Since, Toby has founded The Book Bank Foundation in an effort to boost literacy among the nation's youth -- with a specific emphasis on inner city children. He has worked with over 35 NFL players such as Asante Samuels and Josh Evans via his company, T.E.A.M Management & Infinite Sports Concepts. Toby and his partner Alonzo Shavers provide full scale client services which include contract negotiations, publicity, marketing and legal assistance. Currently, Toby still finds time to shape the musical careers of new artists such as his latest protégé, Saigon as well as traveling as a guest speaker sharing the story of his long road to success and fulfillment.
Previous Tribute to Black Men Vanguard Winners include Philanthropist John Hope Bryant (2006), NAACP Image Award winning news broadcaster Ed Gordon (2005), Emmy-award winner, talk show host and philanthropist Montel Williams (2004) and essayist and journalist Kevin Powell. The Vanguard Award is a way of recognizing African-American men who have made significant contributions to the black community and society at large.
