Idaho (PRWeb) April 12, 2007 -- Fifty marketing legends grant free, public access to their personal desktops in an "American Idol" style competition starting April 16. This is the first competition of its kind where top entrepreneurs like Dan Kennedy, Robert Allen and Joe Sugarman will show the marketing secrets that launched their success.

The nominees normally charge thousands for coaching and training courses but for the first time ever, they are sharing their secrets for free for the chance to claim the title of "Online Marketer of the Year."

"Anyone who's remotely interested in starting their own business should participate in this contest," the competition's host and owner of DotComSecrets.com Inc, Russell Brunson said. "It's a friendly competition that allows business opportunity seekers to get exposure to multiple ways of starting an online business."

Each nominee will present a 60-minute webinar where viewers can connect to the computers of each presenter and watch them unveil how they make money online. Viewers will vote for the best presentation in a similar fashion that "American Idol" viewers vote for their favorite singer.

The idea for this contest stemmed from Brunson's own struggles early in his entrepreneurial career.

"I started a home-based business that I could run out of my dorm room in order to earn some extra money," Brunson said. "But before I learned to channel my marketing ideas to properly grow my business, I went through years of falling for every single scam and get rich quick scheme out there."

Brunson got over these humps and grew his business into a multi-million dollar internet empire because he has followed advice from other successful marketers in the industry.

"My office walls are lined with thousands of dollars of books and courses that have helped me grow my business into what it is today," Brunson added.

The contest is divided into sub-categories including traffic generation, copywriting, business development coaching, lead generation, affiliate marketing, free press marketing and more to give viewers a complete guide to launching their own entrepreneurial dreams.
