Burton joined The Mumford Company in 2006 as a Sales Analyst. "I am anxious for the opportunity to expand my role with The Mumford Company and to directly serve our clients in the Southern region", adds Burton. "The hotel industry is flourishing and dynamically growing and I'm looking forward to assisting our sellers and buyers as they develop their investment portfolios," he continues.
Burton brings practical experience in portfolio management and franchising to The Mumford Company. He came to Mumford, from Intercontinental Hotels Group, where he served as a Franchise Licensing Specialist, assisting franchisees' through the change of ownership process. He also worked with the franchisor in the process of planning the renewal of existing properties. In this role, he facilitated individual hotel developers as well as multi-property portfolio transactions.
With an additional 5 years of front line hotel experience working for such brands as the Holiday Inn, the Hilton Garden Inn as well as the Amelia Island Plantation, Burton has a multi-faceted knowledge of the Hotel Industry which will serve his clients well.
A graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Burton gained invaluable hands on experience in hotel operations. This program gave him a chance to gain in-depth knowledge of marketing, as well as finance and operations management. Additionally, Burton completed coursework in real estate and finance at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
Burton's family was involved in the development of multi-housing communities, which cultivated his knowledge of real estate as he worked weekends and summers in the various ventures. This opportunity fueled his passion to pursue a career in the commercial real estate field.
