Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) April 17, 2007 -- What's for dinner tonight? Chili, with a side of charitable support for the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland (http://www.asgc.org/).

The Food and Wine Forum is hosting a Cook-off for Autism to increase awareness of the complications and frustrations associated with autism and raise much-needed funds for local families affected by the disease.

Autism is the fastest growing epidemic in America. The CDC has just released alarming new figures: One out of every one hundred fifty children will be born with some form of autism. This is up significantly from just over a decade ago when the prevalence rate was only one in ten thousand.

Here is your opportunity to help. Be a part of the Greater Cleveland Chili Cook-Off for Autism to benefit the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland. Join family and friends to sample some delicious chili and share a wonderful time with a chance to win some great prizes. The proceeds from this event will provide vital support to families of the Cleveland area that are affected by autism every day.

For the 2nd consecutive year Cookingclothes.com (http://www.CookingClothes.com) will be donating chef coats to the celebrity judges and custom aprons to the contestants and volunteer workers for the Autism Society of Greater Cleveland's Chili Cook-off To Fight Autism. Join local celebrities and top chefs in sampling the personal chili recipes of area cooks at the Terrace Club of Jacobs Field on Tuesday, April 17, 2007. The fun starts at 6:00 PM and runs through 9:00 PM. Dress is casual, there will be a cash bar and admission is a suggested donation of $15.00. Come out to support a great cause while enjoying the most outstanding chili you may ever eat. Call 440-835-1357 for further information or to ask where you can send your donation if you cannot attend.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Best Professional Chili, Best Celebrity Chili, Best Amateur Chili, and People's Choice. Of course, Great Lakes Beer will be flowing to cleanse the palate between entries, and excitement will abound throughout the evening with chances to win raffles, gift baskets, gift certificates, cookbooks, and other fabulous prizes.??It's going to be great fun. We have some super sponsors and many great contributors. We need more "good" gifts for the raffle so if you have any connections we'd appreciate the help. We have 27 chili cooks as of right now and we are still working hard to get more sponsors. We can't wait for the event and we are hoping that if you can't manage to volunteer that you will at least come and support our event. Our judges are: Paul Minnillo, Michael Ruhlman, Dominic Cerino, Rocco Whalen, Jonathan Bennett, Robin Swoboda, Elaine Cicora, Joe Crea and Brandt Evans. We have gift certificates from Moxie, Carrie Cerinos, Blue Canyon, Classics, Opa, House of Blues, Lola, Loretta Paganinni Cooking School, Fire, Mark Frank, Cleveland Wine School and Heritage Foods. We have gift Baskets from Heathers Heat and Flavor, Ohio Honey, Trader Joes and we have cookbooks from Linda & Fred Griffith and may have a few more. We hope you can come and taste some chili and help the cause. We still need a few more volunteers if your interested and we will never turn away another chili cook.

We want to help those families in the Greater Cleveland area who have Autistic children to get the help they need. Autism is a very complicated and frustrating disability to treat and it can become quite an expensive proposition for those who have to deal with it day-in and day-out. Without the help of insurance which many people cannot afford, this can cripple their efforts to help their loved one. That is why we have pooled our resources together to do what we can for our neighbors in need.
