Myartspace, the online community for artists and photographers, is sponsoring a new juried art competition named "New York, New York 2007". The competition is open to all myartspace members. Membership to myartspace is free. Winners, chosen by a jury panel, will be flown to New York City and particpate in a 3-week show of their art.
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 19, 2007 -- Myartspace, the online community for artists and photographers, is sponsoring a new juried art competition named "New York, New York 2007". The competition is open to all myartspace members. Membership to myartspace is free.
Contestants are required to create an online gallery on myartspace.com with up to 5 images in the gallery. Cost for submission is $25 before June 30, 2007. The final deadline for submission is September 15, 2007.
Fifty finalists will be selected from the contest entries. A juried panel will choose the finalists and the 4 ultimate winners. Selection will be based on:
- artistic merit
- originality and innovation
- relevance to the contemporary art world
- all types of material and conceptual talent and intent will be considered
The four winners will be flown to New York City and hosted for two days so they can attend their opening in New York. Their work will be displayed in a Chelsea gallery for 3 weeks in October-November 2007.
Catherine McCormack-Skiba, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of myartspace notes, "Our goal is to provide great opportunities for the myartspace community. The New York, New York 2007 Competition allows our global community to send 4 very talented people to New York to show off their best work. We think this could be a great springboard for those artists to further their art careers."
The three-person jury will determine the winners of the competition. The jurors include:
- James Rondeau, Frances and Thomas Dittmer Curator of Contemporary Art, The Art Institute of Chicago
- Jessica Morgan, Curator, Contemporary Art, The Tate Modern, London
- Steven Zevitas, Publisher and Editor of New American Paintings
