As weather patterns change, developing world increasingly left behind -- experts at Water Initiative Conference discuss progress.

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) April 20, 2007 -- At least 4,500 children die each day from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation facilities. At the same time, the effects of extreme and unusual weather in vulnerable developing nations make water an ever more valuable resource.

World Vision, together with the Hilton Foundation and other donors, is answering the call to provide potable water sources to countries such as Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and Niger. These efforts will advance on April 20th-21st at World Vision’s Global Water Initiative Conference in Stamford, Connecticut.

The West African Water Initiative has brought clean water to over 260,000 people in Mali, Niger and Ghana since it began three years ago, with the help of the Hilton Foundation
“The West African Water Initiative has brought clean water to over 260,000 people in Mali, Niger and Ghana since it began three years ago, with the help of the Hilton Foundation” said Rich Stearns, president of World Vision US. “This is exciting news to share with our donors as we move forward to continue bringing hope and better health to African communities.”

Experts and donors will highlight the progress achieved in these countries and discuss current projects.
Ethiopian and Ghanaian nationals will tell their personal stories of living through the water sanitation crisis daily for many years of their lives. Guests and donors will hear in detail what World Vision and the Hilton Foundation have achieved and what short- and long-term objectives are planned.
