Continuent, Inc., the leading provider of commercial open source middleware solutions for database high-availability and scalability, and MySQL MECA partner, today announced the new version of its Continuent™ uni/cluster software, Continuent uni/cluster 2007 for MySQL Enterprise at the MySQL User Conference & Expo.
By joining the new MECA partner program, Continuent can receive easier access to MySQL sales, marketing and technical opportunities directly from the developers of the world's most popular open source database. These benefits can help ISV partners like Continuent to better attract and support their current and new customers.

San Jose, Calif. (PRWEB) April 24, 2007 -- Continuent, Inc., the leading provider of commercial open source middleware solutions for database high-availability and scalability, and MySQL MECA partner, today announced the new version of its Continuent™ uni/cluster software, Continuent uni/cluster 2007 for MySQL Enterprise at the MySQL User Conference & Expo.

Continuent uni/cluster 2007 is a suite of middleware software that delivers high-availability and scalability clustering for virtually any mission critical database application.

The newest release of Continuent uni/cluster for MySQL Enterprise sets the middleware gold standard for high-availability and scalability for MySQL users.

Continuent uni/cluster offers a syncronous multi-master approach to database replication. Data is committed and available to all database serves in the cluster simultaneously, effectively eliminating latency involved with traditional, less effective approaches to replication. Continuent uni/cluster offers more effective scalability through load balancing since any database server can be used to process user queries.

"Guaranteed data availability is the lifeblood of today's enterprise, especially in Web 2.0 applications. Traditional closed-source database solutions require significantly more investment to deliver highly available data services to meet the evolving needs of enterprises that are increasingly reliant on data to serve their employees, customers and partners," said Eero Teerikorpi, CEO of Continuent. "Continuent uni/cluster for MySQL Enterprise provides business continuity in the Web 2.0 enterprises by guaranteeing the highest level data availability with consistent and predictable response times, even in the hyper growth phase."

The new features in Continuent uni/cluster 2007 for MySQL Enterprise include:
- Over 100% Performance Improvement
These performance improvements are designed to reduce latency of operations and increase overall throughput. For example, the throughput of SQL write statements like INSERT or UPDATE has increased more than two-fold over the previous release.

- Super Durable Commit
Super Durable Commit ensures that valuable transactions are committed to multiple locations to avoid data loss. This feature is enabled by uni/cluster's replication mechanism, which commits data synchronously to each database in the cluster.

- uni/cluster Connector for MySQL
uni/cluster Connector for MySQL allows standard MySQL clients to connect to uni/cluster directly without the need for driver replacement libraries on the client host.

- Administration Changes
The command line console has a number of additions designed to simplify administrative commands and reduce chances of operator error.

- Java JDK 1.6 Certification
uni/cluster is now certified for use with Java JDK 1.6.

- Improved Distribution of Native APIs
Native API binary builds will be simplified and conveniently distributed through the open source Carob project hosted at www.continuent.org.

- Enhanced User Documentation

"We are proud to support Continuent's high-availability customers with MySQL Enterprise's robust software and proactive services," said Nicolas Pujol, MySQL AB's director of Alliances. "By joining the new MECA partner program, Continuent can receive easier access to MySQL sales, marketing and technical opportunities directly from the developers of the world's most popular open source database. These benefits can help ISV partners like Continuent to better attract and support their current and new customers."

Continuent uni/cluster 2007 is available in May 2007. The pricing for Continuent uni/cluster starts at $3,600.
