The arcane terminology can be an obstacle to locating some titles, so BiblioQuest also employs librarians who have dealt in technical environments who are used to the exacting parameters or preciseness that is needed.
A search service offered by BibliOZ The Book Search Wizard for finding out-of-print, collectible and hard-to-find books has been launched specifically for professionals in the dental and orthodontic sectors.

Developed by BiblioQuest International, the portal page gives dental professionals, researchers and support staff privileged access to the online search engine, BibliOZ The Book Search Wizard, featuring more than 40 million books from thousands of technical, antiquarian and specialist bookdealers worldwide.

BiblioQuest Director Paul McShane says that the dental and orthodontic profession has a strong sense of heritage and the BibliOZ database has many classic texts or historical resources for researchers.

"Titles such as J.P Buckley's Modern Dental Materia Medica, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Eugene Skinner's The Science of Dental Materials, and the Manual of the Discovery, Manufacture and Administration of Nitrous Oxide, or Laughing Gas, in its Relation to Dental or Minor Surgical Operations published in 1870 are some examples.

"This professional sector continues to thrive, no doubt driven by factors such as cosmetic dentistry and adult orthodontics and we see a lot of postgraduate research activity as well.

"The fact that the baby-boomers probably represent the first generation to have gone through their lives with the expectation of regular dental care and treatment also accounts for the continuing demand for professional services and related products.

"Because the texts are highly technical and usually have not had large print runs, it means they are are not commonplace or generally available in the secondhand book market, hence many professionals require expert assistance to find them.

"The arcane terminology can be an obstacle to locating some titles, so BiblioQuest also employs librarians who have dealt in technical environments who are used to the exacting parameters or preciseness that is needed."

"On a lighter note, books dealing with dentistry do seem to yield some intriguing titles such as the following gems:

Stanley Malamed's Handbook of Medical Emergencies in the Dental Office published in Delhi by All India Traveller Books;

James Dyce's Stress and Decision Making in Dental Practice described, somewhat surprisingly, as a philosophy book for dentists;

Strassburg and Knolle's Diseases of the Oral Mucosa - A Color Atlas, this latter one probably not ideal for the coffee table" he said.

"As a BibliOZ.com Preferred Professional Client within the dental sector, the customer is automatically given discounts of at least 10% on all purchases."

"Preferred Professional Clients can also access a vast topic menu and also gains selective access to a general library of bibliographies of out-of-print, collectable and technical books, monographs, periodicals and charts," he said.

"Aside from this special access to the BibliOZ.com online service, Preferred Professional Clients can instead opt to use BiblioQuest's telephone customer service centre," concluded McShane.

The portal page at BibliOZ Book Search For Dentists has an access code to register as a Preferred Professional Client as well as more information on the benefits of using the BibliOZ.com service and sample searches related to the dental and orthodontic sector.

Preferred Professional Clients can also make use of the BibliOZ.com website to find books other than technical and professional texts, and it is a great resource for any reader, hobbyist, sporting fan or the like. BibliOZ.com also offers search capabilities in other professional areas related to dental practice such as management, human resources and finance.

BibliOZ features thousands of items that have a keyword reference to dental topics, ranging from reference tomes valued at hundreds of dollars or more -- such as Facial and Dental Planning for Orthodontists and Oral Surgeons -- to introductory dentistry textbooks costing less than $20.
