PCI DSS Protects Credit and Debit Card Transactions Over Voxeo Evolution Hosted IVR Network

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) May 1, 2007 -- Voxeo (www.voxeo.com), a leading provider of hosted and premise-based IVR and VoIP systems, today announced compliance to PCI DSS- the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard developed to protect sensitive cardholder information and prevent credit card fraud. PCI compliance ensures a high level of security for credit card transactions conducted over the phone using Voxeo's hosted IVR network. In addition, customers with Voxeo premise-based IVR systems who use Voxeo's hosted service to handle overflow or failover traffic can be assured that their PCI compliance is maintained even in the event of seasonal call bursts or equipment failure.

Founded by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide, and Visa International, the PCI Security Standards Council is an independent body established to govern security standards for the payments industry. The PCI organization develops, maintains, and aggressively drives adoption of the standard to enhance payment account data security. To comply with the PCI standard, Voxeo completed and passed a detailed security and vulnerability audit, including all of Voxeo's Internet connections, assigned IP addresses, and all Internet connected servers.

PCI compliance is difficult to achieve and maintain. Voxeo has been working diligently to reach this important goal for a long time, and we believe we are the first in the standards-based IVR hosting industry to do so
"PCI compliance is difficult to achieve and maintain. Voxeo has been working diligently to reach this important goal for a long time, and we believe we are the first in the standards-based IVR hosting industry to do so," said Stephen Neish, Voxeo's Chief Financial Officer.

PCI compliance is the latest addition to Voxeo's security credentials, supporting customer security compliance requirements across several standards including: HIPAA for health care industry patient information confidentiality, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act of 1999 compliance for safeguarding customer information in financial services, and ISO 17799, the most widely recognized international security standard.
