Previously, students in school required a live sign language interpreter who would accompany them to each class. Colleges and Universities pay for the interpreter's time both during and between classes at a rate averaging $60 an hour (including lunch hour). Heretofore, if a deaf or hard of hearing student had a fifty minute class starting at 9 am, 11 am and 2 pm, the university paid for 5 hours and 50 minutes (9am-2:50 pm plus travel time to and fro). Cost: 6 hours X $60=$360+travel. With Lifelinks Educational Tutors the cost is 50 minutes X 3 classes X $2 a minute= $300.
