Ellis Eye among First in US to Utilize Bausch & Lomb's APT Software Breakthrough for Laser Vision Correction

The FDA's most recently approved software for LASIK eye surgery is now being used at Ellis Eye's vision correction centers for the safest, most predictable laser vision correction.

El Cerrito, CA (PRWEB) May 8, 2007 -- The FDA recently approved new software for the Bausch and Lomb Technolas Zyoptix laser, the latest in a succession of increasingly advanced LASIK eye surgery tools. Ellis Eye is one of the few laser surgery centers to incorporate this cutting edge technology into its everyday practice, providing the best vision correction possible today.

The approval of the Zyoptix vision correction software increases both the accuracy and safety of LASIK procedures. This new Bausch and Lomb Zyoptix wavefront correction, which operates at 100 hertz, which provides significantly better results than standard 50 hertz LASIK systems, is called "vision correction from the stars" by LASIK experts, and is expected to greatly impact the future of laser eye surgery.

The Zyoptix APT LASIK surgery system allows the surgeon to program an individually tailored plan for surgery, meaning that each patient gets the custom vision correction that is best suited for their unique eyes, and Ellis Eye is among the first in the area to incorporate this technology into its everyday practice. In addition to the Zyoptix LASIK system, Ellis Eye has also put to use the new Rochester Nomogram APT visualization software developed by Dr. Scott MacRae of the University of Rochester. The combination of these two powerful new tools provides the most advanced laser vision correction available today. The new equipment has the highest success rates ever, with over 97% of test subjects meeting or exceeding 20/20 eyesight six months after the procedure.
