Top Designers Named to Pick Worldwide SparkAward Winners

Entries from all types of Design compete head to head. With the deadline nearing, the Spark Awards has announced their panel of jurors for their design competition covering Graphic Design, Product Design, Mobility Design, Architecture & Interiors, Advertising and Digital Design.

New York, New York (PRWEB) May 8, 2007 -- With less than a month to go before the entry deadline, the Spark Awards announced its panel of distinguished jurors. Not a moment too soon, as entries arrive daily from diverse sources: global conglomerates to individual designers.

Fitch Singapore also submitted a batch. Clever, innovative ideas are the rule for entries from companies such as Humanscale, Dyson, Whipsaw, Ford, fuseproject, Springtime Netherlands, BluDot and Herman Miller.
The Spark Awards, launched this year, recognize design excellence across a broad range of categories for both professional and student designers. Entries are organized under three umbrellas: general, mobility and public sector, and have come from sources worldwide.

"Last week, we received 21 designs from Chrysler Group, including seven new vehicles," said Peter Kuchnicki, Executive Director of Spark. "Fitch Singapore also submitted a batch. Clever, innovative ideas are the rule for entries from companies such as Humanscale, Dyson, Whipsaw, Ford, fuseproject, Springtime Netherlands, BluDot and Herman Miller."

Entries range from luxurious watch designs to an innovative creeper that lets mechanics work safely under a vehicle.

The quality of entries promises to keep things entertaining for the International Design Competition jurors. The panel will be headed by Executive Jury Chairman Kit Hinrichs, partner, Pentagram Design, who will also serve as Graphic Design Chair.

Architecture & Interiors   
*Robert Hale, architect, Rios Clementi Hale
Michael Kirchmann, architect, SOM
Lauren Rottet, interior designer, DMJM/Rottet

Advertising   
*Steve Simpson, partner and creative director, Goodby, Silverstein & Partners
Ken Cook, senior vice president, worldwide creative director, brand integration, Publicis/Hal Riney

Digital Design   
*Clement Mok, designer, planner & instigator, Studio Archetype

The registration deadline is May 15, with late registrations accepted until May 30. Entries must arrive at the jury site between May 21 and May 31. Judging will take place in early June with the awards ceremony set for June 9.

Sponsors of Spark Awards are as wide-ranging as the scope of the contest itself.
