(PRWEB) May 31, 2007 -- For the sixth straight year, the Washington, D.C. area will be treated to the award-winning and largest South Asian Festival, the Zee Heritage India Festival, coming this June to Boyds, Md. With an average of attracting more than 15,000 people every year and having been rewarded many felicitations from State of Maryland, Montgomery County, State of New Jersey, Senators such as Barbara Mikulski and many more, the Zee festival promises to bring in more fun and festivities this year than before.

The event, sponsored by Virginia-based Rushhi Entertainment, features the best of South Asian culture, cuisine, arts, handicrafts, entertainment and shopping, and will be held June 9, from 12 to 9 p.m., and June 10 from 12 to 7 p.m., at the Maryland SoccerPlex and Discovery Sports Center, 18031 Centre Park Circle, Boyds, Md.

Companies like DiamlerChrysler, SunRocket, SunTrust Mortgage, Moneygram, the Indique family of restaurants, Chaubara boutique, Capital Gateway Realtors, and BlueGlow MediaWorks have provided support that has been invaluable in allowing us to put on this festival year after year
"We are excited to bring the largest and only South Asian Festival this summer to the indoor, air-conditioned SoccerPlex. Our guests can expect to find amazing shopping deals, a fantastic menu of the best street food from all over India, provided by Indique Heights restaurant, a dance competition and a lot more. This year was the fastest that we sold out all of our 100-plus exhibition booths, so the shopping is sure to be amazing," said Rushhi Entertainment President Shishir Misra.

"We also have television stars from several of South Asian entertainment's top shows, including Mihir Misra from Sanjivani, Hare Kanch Ki Chudiyan, and Akeyla, and Manini De, from the Bollywood hit Krrish, and television shows like Sarkar and the popular Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, who will be on stage to entertain our audience," said Mr. Misra.

Rushhi Entertainment will also continue its annual and wildly popular Heritage India Idol Singing and Dancing Competition, in which local contestants display their entertainment talents and vie for special prizes, medals and certificates provided by local retailers. The Montgomery County Executive, Mr. Ike Leggett is expected guest of honor to give away the dance competition prizes on Sunday.

"Being parents ourselves, we understand that the entire family needs to have a good time, so we have several games and contests for children, including tattoos, balloons, candies, kiddies corner, carnival games and more, provided by Funtastic Adventures," said Rushhi Vice President Mukesh Maini. Another major highlight this year will be a grand musical performance titled Do, Re, Mi, Fa….Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa by Sahaja Yoga musicians on June 9th evening along with free Sahaja Yoga meditation workshops offered both days.

The Zee Heritage India Festival series began in 2001 as a standalone event at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, and has grown to have a national presence due to its appearance in various cities around the United States, and an international sponsorship by Zee TV, South Asia's largest entertainment network, which is distributed by Dish Network.

Additionally, a host of sponsors have provided their support to make the festival an all-encompassing extravaganza that highlights the diverse and vibrant South Asian culture.

"Companies like DiamlerChrysler, SunRocket, SunTrust Mortgage, Moneygram, the Indique family of restaurants, Chaubara boutique, Capital Gateway Realtors, and BlueGlow MediaWorks have provided support that has been invaluable in allowing us to put on this festival year after year," said Mr. Misra.

Finally, in addition to the dozens of festival attractions, Rushhi Entertainment will be providing patrons with free copies of its renewed revitalized Heritage India Magazine, which highlights South Asia's culture, cuisine and heritage with a fresh and unique perspective.

"As always, we are looking for new and innovative ways in which to highlight South Asia. The new magazine is just another way we are doing this, and the reception thus far has been tremendous. We hope to continue bringing more and unique ways to spread the vibrant colors of our culture in the United States," said Mr. Misra.

Tickets for the festival are $5 per person per day, and children six and under are allowed in for free. Also, parking at the Maryland SoccerPlex is free, said Mr. Misra.
