Keeping up with evolving talent management needs may lead to making a fundamental change in technology, as well as the workings of the people and processes it supports. IHRIM’s July 11 webinar provides a unique learning opportunity to get the practical insight required in taking on such a transformational initiative.

Burlington, MA (HRMarketer/PRWeb) May 31, 2007 -- Roger Taylor, VP of Strategic Staffing at MetLife and Dave Marzo, VP of Solutions Architecture at The Newman Group will present “Managing the Transformational Project: Lessons Learned from MetLife's Talent Management Initiative,” at 11:00 a.m. Central Time at IHRIM’s July 11 webinar sponsored by Arbita. Detailed information can be found at http://www.ihrim.org/events/Webinars/webinarJuly07.asp.

Eventually, organizations reach a point when incremental improvements in technology and processes no longer meet evolving talent management needs. This is when you may find yourself involved in a transformational effort — a project involving a fundamental change in technology, as well as the workings of the people and processes it supports. Managing the transformational initiative has its own unique demands. What must you do? What should you avoid? How do you stay on top of the large-scale effort, the technology and the expectations of the people involved?

Managing the Transformational Project: Lessons Learned from MetLife's Talent Management Initiative
Participants will get practical insight to help meet the challenges and address the needs associated with transformational initiative, including:

  • Managing the process — even the most detailed functional aspects of an initiative can involve a large number of participants from a variety of backgrounds, and effective management of people and activities is critical.
  • Continuous evaluation — from tracking progress to monitoring evolving stakeholder requirements, continuous evaluation of all aspects of the initiative will give you the insight to identify issues before they create problems.
  • Preparing for the unexpected — whether it’s a change in executive leadership or a refocusing of corporate goals, surprises are almost inevitable. There are ways to improve your ability to adjust to the unexpected.
  • Addressing the details — don’t wait to find out that your vendor’s definition of user acceptance is entirely different from yours. From speaking the same language to understanding expectations, attack the details early.
  • Defining Success — each participant may enter the project with a different idea of what success means, but reaching common definition among all participants is essential.

Technical or functional project leaders, executive sponsors, project champions and staffing practitioners or leaders will gain the most by attending – and this program has been approved for 1.50 recertification credit hours toward PHR and SPHR recertification through the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

IHRIM has served the professionals of the HR systems and technology community for more than 25 years. Its mission is to be the leading professional association for knowledge, education and solutions supporting human capital management.
