(PRWEB) June 3, 2007 -- Darlene F. Wofford, Atlanta native and author of "Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember," begins her summer book tour Saturday, June 9th at Walden Book Store in Kennesaw, GA. Walden's is located next to Sears on the lower level of Towne Center Mall, 1234 Barrett Parkway, Kennesaw, GA 30144. The author will be greeting guests at the front of the store and signing her novel from 1:00-3:00.
Based on true events in the her life, "An Assignment to Remember" is the first of three novels in Wofford's "Edgewise" series, with the second, "Seven Years 'Til Sunrise," scheduled for release next year, followed by the third in 2009. The term "Edgewise" is used to describe the book's protagonist as a shattered woman in an edgewise state of mind--driven to the edge by back-to-back traumas. However, "An Assignment to Remember" is not as much about the traumatic events as it is about her healing progression and renewed hope, as Mrs. Wofford tells her riveting story through the eyes of her alter-ego, Delaney Rutherford.
To quote Page One Lit literary newsletter, "Wofford is a wonderful writer whose personality and charisma is vivid in every word and sentence in her new book, "Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember." This is the most honest, heart-inspiring book ...(of the)... year. "Edgewise" is an example of how one woman wants to live in the past but realizes she can't. It is about confronting reality. It is about emotions. It is about communication. It is about life." A reader sums it up nicely on Barnes and Noble's web site in her review, "Edgewise took me on an emotional journey of laughter, sorrow and hope."
If the name 'Darlene Wofford' rings a bell it may be because she and Carl, her husband of 40 years are both native Atlantans, and along with sons Kenneth and Cory, have been Woodstock/Acworth residents in Cherokee County for 35 years. She has been in the mortgage finance industry for 20 years and co-hosted an hour-long talk-show called "Your Inner Voice" on WFOM-1230 AM radio which aired Saturday mornings 10-11:00 in 2006. She has also been interviewed recently regarding her novel on WCNN-680 AM, WFOM-1230 AM, and WALR/ESPN AM radio.
