New Novel Answers Question, 'Can Dreams Really Come True?'

In Anyone Can Dream, author Philip M. Makau uses his own life experiences as the basis for a remarkable and touching story.

Benicia, California (PRWEB) June 10, 2007 -- Anyone Can Dream by Philip M. Makau explores the possibility of achieving one's dreams and illustrates how the struggle to improve one's lot in life is never out of vogue.

In Anyone Can Dream, main character Mark is born into poverty and a life of extreme hardship. Mark quickly discovers that life is a game of hide and seek in British colonial Kenya, where wild animals such as cobras, rhinos, and baboons are all too eager to find and kill him. It is almost a miracle that Mark survives his childhood, being put to work at the age of three to help his family eke out a meager existence from the land and enduring hunger, disease, and ignorance. From the son of a tiller of soil to a cosmopolitan adult he succeeds in eventually changing his status after passing through several metamorphoses on his difficult journey. On the way he must overcome the evils of nepotism, bigotry and racism, but his determination to succeed prevails over adversity.

Filling a unique niche by covering a historical period of momentous change in Kenya and in the United States, Anyone Can Dream reminds readers that facing and overcoming adversity is challenging, but perseverance pays off.
