AlgaeCal Calcium Supplement Gets High Marks for Calcium Absorption

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

It is important to demonstrate good calcium absorption as we have with AlgaeCal, but the most bio-available calcium is not necessarily going to produce the best bone health.
The most interesting food calcium sources were dairy products (especially yogurt with 43% calcium absorbable as the highest value), fruits (like orange 39%, pear 67% and cauliflower 31%) and spirulina 8%. By the same in vitro trial, AlgaeCal is ranked as better calcium sources than food products (even dairy products) with 75 % absorbable calcium.

Las Vegas Nevada (PRWEB) June 12, 2007 -- AlgaeCal, the world's only pure plant source calcium supplement was tested for calcium absorption in a test simulating the human digestive tract by the respected seaweed analyzing institute, C.E.V.A. in France. For a standard of comparison, calcium absorption of AlgaeCal was tested against one of the leading brands of calcium carbonate and different foods that are known to be a good source of calcium.

AlgaeCal demonstrated higher calcium absorption (75%) than the competition's calcium carbonate (69%) and all of the calcium rich foods that were tested. C.E.V.A. reported that "The most interesting food calcium sources were dairy products (especially yogurt with 43% calcium absorbable as the highest value), fruits (like orange 39%, pear 67% and cauliflower 31%) and spirulina 8%. By the same in vitro trial, AlgaeCal is ranked as better calcium sources than food products (even dairy products) with 75 % absorbable calcium."

AlgaeCal CEO Dean Neuls cautions "It is important to demonstrate good calcium absorption as we have with AlgaeCal, but the most bio-available calcium is not necessarily going to produce the best bone health. For example, calcium citrate-malate, calcium bis-glycinate and calcium formate have all shown good bio-availability, but they have failed to demonstrate superior human results in studies. Human end points are what really matter and the AlgaeCal Bone Health Program is showing excellent human end points including evidence of increasing bone density in post menopausal women"

Where all other calcium products on the market are inorganic or laboratory made, AlgaeCal is a naturally occurring mixture of proven bone building ingredients and it is the cornerstone of the AlgaeCal Bone Health Program. "In an effort to develop the best bone health products, we have co-funded a 400 person clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of our bone health program. The study is near completion and early results have been very positive by reversing bone loss in post menopausal women" says Neuls.

The AlgaeCal Bone Health Program consists of 3 important components. AlgaeCal Plus, a plant source calcium-mineral supplement that has been enhanced with the proven bone building nutrients, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2. The second part of the program is Strontium Boost, a strontium citrate supplement and the third part of the program is an exercise program. The AlgaeCal Bone Health Program was created in response to The 2004 Surgeon General's Report on Bone Health and Osteoporosis.
