Thunder Road, the first North American comic book ever produced exclusively for a mobile phone debut, is set to launch through uclick, a leader in digital entertainment.

Kansas City, MO (PRWEB) July 11, 2007 -- The first North American comic book ever produced exclusively for a mobile phone debut is set to launch through uclick, a leader in digital entertainment.

The first chapter of Thunder Road, described by series writer Sean Demory as a "post-apocalyptic dieselpunk action adventure" story, will be released on uclick's GoComics Mobile Comic Book Reader on July 25, with new chapters available starting August 20th. The reader application is available to mobile phone customers on all major carriers, including Cingular, Verizon and Sprint, throughout North America, UK, Australia and South Africa.

Demory anticipates Thunder Road will be an eye-opening experience for mobile phone users.

"We've worked exclusively with uclick to take full advantage of the GoComics Mobile Comic Book Reader and create an all-out epic experience for your mobile," Demory said. "With Thunder Road, we're setting a new standard for the scale of action that can be conveyed on a mobile screen. It's one hell of a ride."

Thunder Road depicts an alternate present in which decades of global atomic warfare have ravaged the American Heartland, turning superhighways like Route 66 and I-70 into the lawless "new frontier." A six-tour war veteran named Merritt works as his region's sole representative from the U.S. Department of Transportation, providing legal, mail and government services to the citizens caught between the opportunistic land barons and Mobile Expeditionary Force veterans who seek to rule the roads.

Legal, mail and government services might sound like mundane work for a comic book protagonist, but series artist Steven Sanders promises Merritt won't spend a single day behind a desk. In fact, Merritt's workdays will mostly consist of: "Explosions. I get to draw lots and lots of explosions," said Sanders. "Merritt is equal parts soldier, Wild West sheriff and Pony Express rider. He does work very few people would have the skills or the nerve to do, and he faces incomprehensible danger at every turn. Things are always exploding around him. And he knows if they aren't exploding right now, they're about to."

The high-octane, wide-open adventure of Thunder Road is a pulse-pounding addition to the GoComics mobile comic book line, adding an action epic with the feel of a summer blockbuster to a selection that already includes the sci-fi fantasy hit Godland, the webcomic-turned-comic-book PvP, the manga and anime horror import Guilstein, high-flying martial arts fun starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more.

"We're extremely proud that the GoComics Mobile Comic Book Reader is the venue for the debut of Thunder Road," said uclick Manager of Product Development Harold Sipe. "This imaginative, action-packed story offers mobile comics fans a ride like they've never experienced before."
